Outdoorsy Shite Top Trumps: March

Flora or Fauna.

Extra points for a photo.

Handicap will apply to those in Forrin. Monthly win will not automatically go to, for example, a Cougar spot. The Cougar will need to be doing something awesome, like fighting a bear or doing sudoku.

Siskens! W00t! (whatever that means).

Only two more days till our March spottings are done.

Slubberdegullion · 29/03/2012 10:06

Two Siskens!

Losty never mind. I thought they looked nice. I never knew we were under invasion from forrin bells. Are they aggressive the Spanish ones? like grey squirrels or rhododendrons?

Yy Northey. Good point.

Do you think we should start compiling the short listed March top spot nominations?

OP posts:
FryingNemo · 29/03/2012 10:08

Siskins!

Northey · 29/03/2012 10:10

Why not? How should we do it? Reticently put forward our own best fr consideration? Nominate each other's spots? I have retained a certain fondness for someone's fat bee/catkin combo. And someone ariel's porpoise haiku.

Slubberdegullion · 29/03/2012 10:15

Siskins!

Ooh Siskins, how lovely, I have a Zebra Finch in my lounge but he lives there keeping the budgie company so I don't think that counts as a spot, makes me sad seeing birds in cages but I'm not allowed to let them out as apparently that wouldn't be fair.

Bluebell identification. I've just found this

Northey · 29/03/2012 10:23

They were my sparrows.

AIBUqatada · 29/03/2012 10:48

Great combo-spot this morning. A squirrel, a pheasant hen, and an Airedale terrier called Oscar all burst simultaneously from a hedge. My dog had a which-to-kill crisis.

Oscar wasn't strictly wildlife I suppose.

Also:

Siskins! Two!

Exit, sounds like a partial albino. We used to have an albino blackbird who came in our garden, and he used to hop around in a lonely fashion, being shunned by all the other birds :(.

What are the rules for voting? Shall we submit to Slubber by midnight on 31st?

Slubberdegullion · 29/03/2012 11:23

Gah rules eek. No idea. I was spent after the March only rule.

Shall we maybe give MNHQ 5 bestest spots and let them decide or are we opening it up for the MN massive to vote on? Mmmm then someone has to count votes.... Or create some fabulous vote counting software

I dunno.

Maybe everyone who has participated should get a prize like KS1 sports day?

Two kits. Very cute and not long for this world unless learn to be scared of off-leash labradors....except ours who thinks retriever qualities should only be aired for toys.

iseenodust · 29/03/2012 11:30

Prizes at KS2 are always stickers.
Entrants could all give each other Thanks for sharing (another KS1 priority). Is there a case to be made for MNHQ supplying a special English bluebells emoticon ?

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 29/03/2012 11:34

What a genuinely lovely idea! A proper British bluebells emoticon.

I don't want to open up to the masses. The idea scares me. I like hiding in here.

ExitPursuedByABear · 29/03/2012 11:37

Worried about my pied corvid now. I will take the dog down there and lunchtime and check if it has friends.

ExitPursuedByABear · 29/03/2012 11:38

Surely, it is not about the winning, it is about the taking part, and I for one have very much enjoyed this thread.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 29/03/2012 11:38

What will you do if it doesn't?

AIBUqatada · 29/03/2012 11:39

Another vote for the sparrow tummies here.

I'm very excited about the judging.

ExitPursuedByABear · 29/03/2012 11:39

I shall worry about it Ariel, adding it to my list of other wildlife worries.

ExitPursuedByABear · 29/03/2012 11:40

Do I have to get changed? I am still in my mucking out clothes.

AIBUqatada · 29/03/2012 11:40

(It's a technical Oscars frock of course, with wicking armpits to deal with all the anxiety sweat re who will win)

iseenodust · 29/03/2012 11:47

Oh cr*p do I need to attend to the fuzzy legs (thinks Angelina Jolie type posing).

AIBUqatada · 29/03/2012 11:50

I think fuzzy legs are fine for the ceremony event -- good wildlife habitat.

iseenodust · 29/03/2012 11:56

Sigh of relief. Probably Kate Humble has fuzzy legs?

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 29/03/2012 12:28

I did the first spring prune of my legs this morning. It was like clearing virgin rainforest.
