Flora or Fauna.

Extra points for a photo.

Handicap will apply to those in Forrin. Monthly win will not automatically go to, for example, a Cougar spot. The Cougar will need to be doing something awesome, like fighting a bear or doing sudoku.

Something dead in the road, not sure what. May have been a rat but not really the right colour, otherwise zilch around here today.

(Check out my hover...)

Northey · 20/03/2012 13:54

The Funeral Lollop. Chopin's lesser known work.

Northey · 20/03/2012 13:57

I didn't see its eyes, rierie. Only the steady, sombre flickers of its tail. Poor doomed rabbit.

ArielNonBio · 20/03/2012 13:59

Chopin always gets me right here.

Northey · 20/03/2012 14:06

Chopin and a doomed bunny. It would break a Vulcan.

AIBUqatada · 20/03/2012 14:10

Hahaha at The Funeral Lollop. I'm humming it as we speak.

And I love Exit's depressivist contribution too, which is practically a poem:

Something dead
In the road.

Not sure what.

May have been a rat.

But not really
The right
Colour

Northey · 20/03/2012 14:45

I love the poem. I may put on a black polo neck and light a gauloise in its honour. It will keep the midges off as well.

ArielNonBio · 20/03/2012 15:04

That is a work of total genius. I salute you both, Exit it for writing it, and AIBUqatada for pointing it out.

One mouse, dead

One baby bird, dead

Sad

Oh dear. I'm afraid my seasonal contribution is one beautiful blue blackbird's egg. We had to remove a tangled mass of ivy and pyracantha which was pulling our fence apart, and of course that's the perfect place for nests. I carefully moved it to one of the ivy thickets we don't have to take down, but I very much doubt the parents will return to it.

Today is Tragic Tuesday Sad

ExitPursuedByABear · 20/03/2012 17:39

Thank you all for recognising my poetic turn today Grin

GrimmaTheNome · 20/03/2012 17:43

Perhaps we should have an Outdoorsy Shite poetry thread. Some seasonal haiku perhaps? I'm not feeling inspired enough right now (have to go and battle some more with ivy. DH just returned from 5th or 6th trip to dump with carloads of pyracantha!)

AIBUqatada · 20/03/2012 17:49

It's the vernal equinox today. Tragic Tuesday is winter's last-ditch effort to grip us all in a frenzy of death and despair. It is trolling the spring.

ExitPursuedByABear · 20/03/2012 17:52

Have you checked out my hover

You should all do it to aid the effort.

LostInWales · 20/03/2012 17:55

Have you seen mine? Huh, have you?

ExitPursuedByABear · 20/03/2012 17:57

GrimmaTheNome · 20/03/2012 17:57

Have you checked out my hover

?? sorry, I seem to have missed something - what's a 'hover'?

AIBU - ah, that would explain it. Roll on true spring!

GrimmaTheNome · 20/03/2012 17:58

Oh, I see, its like a tooltip. Presumably you need a profile to set that up and I never CBA.

ExitPursuedByABear · 20/03/2012 18:00

I think it is just on My Mumsnet underneath where you can name change.

GrimmaTheNome · 20/03/2012 18:07

Oh, right, User Status. OK, set mine

Slubberdegullion · 20/03/2012 18:18

I got me one too. A hover.

Some most poignant mortality nature spots today. Nature innit.

I spent 2 hours spotting nature this morning with y2. Mostly we spotted ducks, gulls, a pair of swans and a coot.

All alive and healthy? Oh good, the blight isn't universal!

Slubberdegullion · 20/03/2012 19:15

yup, all in the rudest of health and cracking on with bird stuff.

The cob the dirty incestuous bastard has a limp but that is a chronic problem. He still manages to cop off with his daughter ooh the shame to the village perfectly well with the pen and produces a good crop of signets once a year.
