Not tagging anyone. I'm sure you'll all find your way here if you want to join in. 😁

My walk started off a bit chilly, but was comfortable by the end. A bit muddy in parts in the woods, but overall drying up nicely.

Dog bedding washed and on the line.

SpanielsGalore · 17/03/2026 11:05

@TheHungryHungryLandsharks Apparently it's quite common, especially in sight hounds. It can happen in humans too. It was annoying, because she'd only been back to full walks for a few weeks, and then we were back to crate rest.

Poor TD. They certainly know how to tug at your heart strings. Even though we all know he'll be perfectly fine. Good news that he's stopped limping.

@Silverbirchleaf Snap! I have dog bedding on the line too. Sunny and breezy here, so hopefully it won't take too long to dry. It's P's crate bedding, so she's having to make do with a piece of vet bed.

Guess TD was auditioning for the Oscars !

TheHungryHungryLandsharks · 17/03/2026 11:59

@SpanielsGalorelearn something new every day! I don't know how I'd cope if one of mine had to be on crate rest for so long, it must be incredibly stessful for you ❤

He's incredibly good at acting, as @Silverbirchleaf he clearly is auditioning for his own doggy Oscar! I must say, I am already missing the little git. He's much more my shadow than any of the girls are (they're far more 'independent', although they are still very clingy in their own ways). I went for a wee earlier and there was no one there to peep around the door and watch me.

I haven't put any washing out...it's in the Tumbledrier 😳Which I know it terrible as it should really be on the line. I don't even have a defence. I just did it automatically when unloading the washing machine. I did go through a period when Twatdog was a puppy of not being able to put anything on the line as he used to jump up and rip it off and then run around the garden with it looking pleased.

It is warm here though. Showing as 11 in the garden (in the sun, admittedly). Perhaps I'll put the sheets on shortly and then dry them in the garden. Nothing better than air-dried sheets😍

Scream Help GIF

Fuck. Fuckity fuck. Bum. Bollocks.

Just walked P round the block. Three children came running over to say hello to her. She jumped, leaped and twisted round like a twat. I picked her up and she struggled like an arsehole.
Moved away from the children and put her down to walk home. Twenty paces later, she's lifting her leg up, hoppity hopping and sticking it out to the side, non weight bearing. Fucks sake.

This is why she needs sedating! FFS

TheHungryHungryLandsharks · 17/03/2026 17:57

@SpanielsGalore Bloody kids!!!! How is she now?! Still limpy!?

Perhaps she'll be like Twatdog (who has reportedly not limped at all today) and the limp will just fade if she takes the pressure off it? Silly P.

SpanielsGalore · 17/03/2026 19:26

@TheHungryHungryLandsharks She's in her crate, totally unsettled and scratching her bedding up. I'll find out if she's still limping when we do our next toilet break. Think I will email the vets and ask for more sedatives though.

Glad TD is all better. ❤️

OP posts:
SpanielsGalore · 18/03/2026 09:10

P is still limping this morning. 😭
It's more of a hoppity hop, skip every few steps thsn a consistent limp. And when she had a wee, she stuck her leg straight out to the side, rather than squat and bend it at the knee.

So pissed off. I feel like crying. Also extremely worried. I don't have £4k for a second operation. 😭

I have emailed the vets with this morning's videos. They did phone me at 8a.m., but I missed the call. Hopefully I'll speak to them later today.

Hope everyone else is having a better day.

Oh gosh @SpanielsGalore I am so sorry, you must be so worried and absolutely gutted after going through the operation and all that crate rest. I don’t even have any advice but hope you manage to get in touch with the vets. Please keep us updated!

Silverbirchleaf · 18/03/2026 11:11

@SpanielsGalore Sending positive vibes to you. Hope it’s nothing serious.

TheHungryHungryLandsharks · 18/03/2026 12:46

Let us know when you’ve spoken to them @SpanielsGalore! hopefully it’s nothing my a day or crate-rest won’t fix. Silly P

@YorkshireFelix how is V?! Hope he’s not getting into any mischief

@Silverbirchleaf hope your boy is well as well!

I’m working ‘hard’ in the garden today. It’s shorts and no sleeves weather so every time I come off a work call I decamp back to the garden. Such a lovely day. Magnolia and Camelias are blooming 😍

Silverbirchleaf · 18/03/2026 13:21

A butterfly accompanied us on our walk today. A nice sunny walk.

jJust eaten my lunch outside. Warm enough just to be in a tshirt.

YorkshireFelix · 18/03/2026 16:57

@TheHungryHungryLandsharks He is good thank you! We’ve just been up to Howarth and it was so glorious. He was such a good boy. He did pick up a dead frog but dropped it straight away (out of shock I think 🤣). The sun has cured all my problems!!

How are your lot? That photo of Pen you posted is lovely. She has such a sweet little face.

SpanielsGalore · 18/03/2026 18:05

@YorkshireFelix Looks a lovely day there. Glad V is doing well. Have you been back to the physio yet? I've lost track of time.

P has an appointment with the specialist tomorrow to check her leg and I have begged for enough Trazadone to see us through until then. My neighbour can hear her squealing through the walls.

Oh no poor baby 😢 I really hope like @TheHungryHungryLandsharks said that it’s something a few more days of rest can fix.

Yes he was at physio yesterday and she was really pleased with how he’s getting on. No reason to restrict any walks any more but I always give him a rest day now if he’s done a big walk the day before. We’re doing laser/physio one month then hydro the next just as maintenance for now so I’m happy with that.

TheHungryHungryLandsharks · 18/03/2026 19:17

@YorkshireFelix Thank you, Pen is a very pretty girl with her little beaver teeth. DWS has similar teeth, I realised today.

V really is such a handsome little man. 😍He just looks so unbelievably happy in every photo, and his coat is always so shiny - although in that photo he looks like he's been the water! Sounds like he was lucky it wasn't an alive frog, imagine his reaction 😂

Glad to hear the physio went well! Do you think that'll be it going forward? He should be fine now?

@Silverbirchleaf glad it wasn't just me in a t-short! None of the neighbours were in their garden and I felt a bit like an odd duck sitting out there as usually when it's good weather all the neighbours are out (not that I spy on them...I can just hear them).

If it could just be summer now I would be so happy. Today has just made everything a bit less miserable. Plus, watching Twatdog hump his elephant for hours on end does just cheer me up. I know it sounds weird, but he's so unbelievably happy and proud of himself and it makes me smile.

@SpanielsGalore Oh poor P. Fingers crossed she hasn't done anything too damaging and the specialist is just able to fix it easily. How is she now? Hope she's no longer squealing. Poor girl. How are you? Must be so stressful! Hope K and N are at least behaving themselves ❤

YorkshireFelix · 18/03/2026 19:30

@TheHungryHungryLandsharks yes he was very brave today!! He will usually only venture in ankle deep but today went in up to his belly and kept sticking his head under the water for some reason. Dd was chucking some stones into the water so I think he was trying to find them. Maybe one day he will actually swim. There was a collie and a springer who were jumping right in and swimming about to chase their balls and he was very concerned for their safety 🤣

Yes the physio said it’s just maintenance for now but I think it is likely to worsen as he gets older. I am just so glad we caught it when he was so small so we can manage things as I know some people have no idea their dog has patella luxation until their leg suddenly goes. I think we should be able to avoid surgery in the future if we keep on top of things 🤞🏻

I can’t blame you for being cheered up by Twatdog doing what he loves!

SpanielsGalore · 18/03/2026 22:09

@YorkshireFelix That's brilliant news. So pleased for V and for you. Hopefully he'll be fine with physio and never need an operation.

Helpful tip in getting a dog to swim. Get a Canada goose, chase it out to sea and the little buggers will swim out after it.

@TheHungryHungryLandsharks Bless TD and his sexephant. The boy has stamina!

P has finally settled for the evening. The vet said she might have pulled a muscle, but I'm not hopeful. Her leg's at a funny angle and you can see her thigh muscle trembling. I'm slightly less stressed now P is sedated again. But I have run lots of worst case scenarios through my head.

@Silverbirchleaf I was in shorts and a shirt for our lunchtime walk too. A little sunshine has brought me right back to life!

Sorry I’ve been so bad at keeping up with all the posts. Rory is still Mr Perfect but is looking a little too skinny as he’s become a bit ball obsessed and running a lot so he is pleased he be getting even more food 🤣.

TheHungryHungryLandsharks · 19/03/2026 09:20

@YorkshireFelix ohhh brave Vinny! Clearly he just needs the right motivation to let his water-spaniel shine. None of mine are huge fans of water, I must say. DWS walks around puddles 😂

Will keep my fingers crossed for V, but all sounds good from what you've said! 😊And if he's not in pain that's always a win!

@SpanielsGalore How is P this morning? Let us know how she goes at the vets. Will keep my fingers crossed for best case scenario rather than worst case, but silly P.

Twatdog's stamina is a thing of wonder. It was literally hours he was humping for. Did make me chortle as Pen was watching him with this expression that I can only describe as disappointment. I think she was wondering how such a little weirdo came from her.

@Idstillratherbepaddleboarding lovely to hear from you! Would love to see a latest photo of Rory 😍So glad you're feeling happier about the weather - I know you said before you struggled with winter!

Lovely walk today in shorts and a short sleeve top followed by a coffee and a bacon and cheese toastie-muffin-thing. I ended up buying two as DH is a weak, weak, man and gave the dogs some of his the other day and now they're scrounging like crazy whenever I have one. So the five dogs shared one, and I had one to myself. But I did make them wait until I'd finished mine. I even tossed some in the boot, Twartdog jumped in after it AND he let me close the boot. He's been refusing for months to go in there and so been travelling on the back seat. Clearly all I needed was the right incentive 😒

SpanielsGalore · 19/03/2026 10:10

@TheHungryHungryLandsharks Shorts and t-shirt! I've just put my heating on, as I'm bloody freezing.

That's brilliant about TD jumping in the boot. Of course, it means you are going to have to buy them a bacon and cheese toastie muffin thing every day now. 😁

P is quietly resting in her cage. Yay for drugs! It appears Trazadone does calm her down a bit after all. Her appointment is at 3:30, so she's been allowed breakfast. Hopefully it's a muscle strain and not a knackered tibia.

I am making chocolate chip shortbread. DS is home for the weekend, so I shall drop it at his flat after the vet visit. Minus a piece or two, which I shall have to force down to make sure it's edible.

OP posts:
TheHungryHungryLandsharks · 19/03/2026 10:59

@SpanielsGalore there have to be some benefits to living in the south as opposed to the lovely Scottish countryside! 😂Tbh the weather is about the only benefit.

Oh no. They're too expensive to be buying two a day (£6 each!!!!). He can go in the back seat without his bacon and cheese. Little fatty.

Fingers crossed it really is nothing with P and just a few more days rest will put her to rights again. How and K and N doing? Were they distressed by her being in pain?

I'm trying to not have bad things in the house so the cupboards are really bare...and all it's achieving is making me crabby and miserable. I hope your DS appreciates you checking the food is edible - if he doesn't you know who to send the shortbread to😉

Silverbirchleaf · 19/03/2026 12:31

@SpanielsGalore Please send me some chocolate chip shortbread (or at least post a picture). Can’t remember now, are you the Millionaire shortbread maker as well?

Another sunny walk for me, and I stripped off my fleece. Did debate before leaving whether I actually needed it, but we had a bitter wind a few days ago, deceptive with the blue sky.

Washing on line (plus some finishing off in tumble drier).

Idstillratherbepaddleboarding · 19/03/2026 14:16

@TheHungryHungryLandsharks here he is from today doing his first ever swim! He was hilarious at first as he was treading water clearly thinking “what the hell am I doing right now??”. I’m so proud of him as I thought we were going to have a Labrador who hates swimming 😵.

It’s a mixed day today as it should be our last dog, Billy’s, 5th birthday 💔. Billy loved to swim so perhaps he was there encouraging Rory.

Afternoon all! Hope you’re all getting on ok! Sorry I’ve not caught up yet. We had a scary moment yesterday that involved a broken fence and Pablo escaping out of the garden! He wasn’t gone for long, maybe a few minutes and brought himself round to my doorstep and sat waiting to be let in so a neighbour kindly knocked the door. He was extremely excited to see me bless him, and was a little clingier than normal afterwards! Luckily I live in a very quiet cul-de-sac but I have the fence being replaced on Monday so being extra vigilant between now and then!
I have also noticed that my ‘too eager to great other dogs’ boy actually finds sniffing even more engaging that other dogs. We’ve had some very interesting moments lately of him being so locked in to smells that he will only give a quick glance to another dog before continuing to sniff! I’m thinking this is a good thing!
