I've buckled again, I can't take the pressure of being on page 40 😄

Black puppies are very cute. 💖
This is K the day she came home. We were a bit naughty and got her on the Friday night, six hours before she turned 8 weeks old as there were bad snow storms forecast for the weekend. Second photo is going to the vets four days later. She only weighed 2.5kg and seems to fit her paws.

@SpanielsGalore Oh bless her! So tiny! Just checked my dog app and pupsy was 5kg at 15 weeks. I miscalculated her food to start with, poor little sausage, and she wasn't getting nearly enough, but got that sorted eventually.

Poor Pupsy. Bet you felt awful when you realised.
Mine came on Eukanuba and there was no way she would eat the humongous amount that was the RDA. She barely ate a quarter of it a day. I know she ate it at the breeders, because she vomited loads of it over me on the journey home. 😂

tizwozliz · 25/06/2025 15:53

With our youngest pup vets said she could be out the day after her vaccinations but avoid heavy traffic areas, bins and mucky water for 2 weeks.

2 years ago today, back when a lamb braid would entertain for over half an hour

Oh God mine was on Eukanuba, he used to do poos the same size as him

I just looked up, pup was averaging 650g a week weight gain up until she was 6 months or so. It's phenomenal how fast they grow, think it's not unusual for show labs to put on a 1kg a week.

😂😂😂
Fortunately K didn't eat enough to do that.
It's an absolute ridiculous amount to feed a small puppy.

@VanGoSunflowers I’m not sure which direction you are from the centre of Brum but I was looking at this class Redditch/ Droitwich area- she specialises in spaniels and does gun dog classes (and fun gun dog ones too)

Spaniels are active, clever, persistent dogs, they are bred to use their noses to hunt over ground and to flush and retrieve birds. Pet spaniels can be an absolute joy to live with or without training and an outlet for their natural behaviours they...

I’m really enjoying seeing pics of your dogs from when they were puppies! Adorable!

@brushingboots thank you! I can’t wait to take him out! All the different advice about when is good is frustrating, I’ll admit - even down to how long or how often you walk. The breeder set up a WhatsApp group with everyone that took a puppy from her last litter and she is saying only one ten minute walk every few days?! Then you hear 2 x 15 min walks is ok! I just think as long as I am sensible, all should be fine.

@Nella68 - thank you for the link, I shall check that out!

My remote control has mysteriously disappeared… I don’t want to jump to blaming pupper because it wouldn’t be impossible that I ‘put it somewhere safe’ but forgot where that was! He has been sleeping a lot today but pretty alert and jumpy in between!

VanGoSunflowers · 25/06/2025 18:18

@Bupster i really hope he feels better soon 🤞

CoubousAndTourmalet · 25/06/2025 19:37

So my throwback photo is from exactly one year ago this week. Brie at 14 weeks old, on her very first walk.

He had half his dose of painkillers, slept for 90 mins, woke up and stole the remote control. I only noticed because you were missing yours! Little sod - he's eaten two already and I can't replace one of them so I'm having to jump between the half-dismembered Fire Stick remote and the sort of new TV remote (now with bite marks) as between them I can switch channels, except of course when he nicks one.

Actually while he was looking for trouble he wasn't grooming his paw so I sort of preferred it, poor little bug.

Sorry about Bill's paw @Bupster
I hope he makes a speedy recovery.

CoubousAndTourmalet · 25/06/2025 20:20

Thank you @VanGoSunflowers and @SpanielsGalore

I've appreciated every moment with this pup, because we'd been without a dog for 3 years, and I was starting to feel we might never have another. Life had been difficult, we'd both lost a parent during covid lockdowns, plus one of our cats, then we lost our dog very suddenly at 7...
So now, I have a greater appreciation of things, I'm so thankful that we have her.

And yes, to me she felt like the cutest puppy in the world ❤

What is it about remote controls? I think they are all secretly trained before they get to us to develop a penchant for them. It’s like they’re smeared in peanut butter! I’ve had several people tell me about remote controls being stollen! Glad (sort of 😂) that he feels able to get up to such shenanigans.

I have taken to sitting cross legged on the sofa to avoid my feet being bitten. I can tell when he is about to lunge for them because of the look on his face. He looked at my son’s feet that way the other day and I said “don’t you dare” before he even tried and he thought better of it!

CoubousAndTourmalet · 25/06/2025 20:31

@VanGoSunflowers
There isn't a puppy alive that can resist toes or socks.

CoubousAndTourmalet · 25/06/2025 20:50

Another heatwave is coming 😨😩😭

You say 'another' - some of us never got one. 😭

Here's my throwback puppy photo. P aged 11 and a half weeks.

VanGoSunflowers · 25/06/2025 20:57

@CoubousAndTourmalet it certainly seems that way! Hopefully I will make it through puppy hood with both feet in tact. And not another heatwave!!! I used to absolutely love the hot weather but is it bad that I’m secretly excited for autumn?

@SpanielsGalore absolutely adorable!! Look at that Snow White coat 😍

CoubousAndTourmalet · 25/06/2025 21:03

What a gorgeous girl @SpanielsGalore ! Her colouring is very striking.

@VanGoSunflowers Quite honestly, I cannot wait for September and some decent walks!

Bupster · 25/06/2025 21:06

Bill was an insanely sweet puppy but it was very hard to take good photos as he didn’t stay still. This is my first attempt at measuring him for a harness 😄

Bill wins cutest puppy of the decade for sure @Bupster

It's those huge eyes. And the squish factor ❤

YorkshireFelix · 25/06/2025 21:45

Ahh I love seeing the pup photos!!

I don’t see many liver and white cockers around here@SpanielsGalore. P is lovely 😍

@Bupster wow you know something is up when Bill isn’t stealing anything. Poor boy, I hope he recovers quickly.
