I've buckled again, I can't take the pressure of being on page 40 😄

Sounds like a good day @Bupster! V doesn’t actually fart that much but he burps like a trooper!! I’d never heard a dog burp until we got him.

We did our usual walk today and he was such a good boy again. I am really enjoying walking him at the minute. He look slightly demented here 😂

We had a blissful walk this evening! It was so quiet, we had the entire field to ourselves. We are so very lucky to have this massive open space so close to home. Brie was calm and relaxed on a collar and a 6 foot lead tonight, no arsey lead-biting. Just a slow and gentle wander as the sun was setting. If only every walk could be like that...

LandSharksAnonymous · 19/05/2025 13:26

@CoubousAndTourmalet I think your good walk luck was stolen from me!!! I’d like it back, please. 😫

Never have such a bad walk as this lunch. I ended up covered in poo, mud and dirty river water. None of mine even have the excuse of being young anymore…

CoubousAndTourmalet · 19/05/2025 13:34

Oh no! Sorry @LandSharksAnonymous - that sounds like a struggle 😬 That was us last weekend, so yup, sounds like we're taking it in turns. At least you have an excuse though, being a multi-dog household; some days I can't even seem to manage one🙄

YorkshireFelix · 19/05/2025 14:17

Oh gosh @LandSharksAnonymous that sounds horrendous!

@CoubousAndTourmalet I am soooo pleased to hear you had a good walk. Hopefully that will keep happening more frequently!

I just bumped into the girl who owns Vinny’s twin and people always think I am her and vice versa. We have exchanged numbers to go on a walk together sometime (it turns out she only lives 2 streets away from me!). She said she doesn’t have any friends with dogs locally and neither do I, so that will be nice. It’s actually freaky how similar they are - I would say they could have been brothers but he is a month older than V. So will be interesting to see how they compare!!

I said I always see her and she looks like she’s got her shit together compared to me, and she said the same about me 😂 So maybe things aren’t as bad for us as we think they are.

LandSharksAnonymous · 19/05/2025 16:44

@YorkshireFelix I have to confess I am very jealous you can do play dates and walks with others for V!

I always find it amusing how everyone always thinks everyone else has their shit together when it comes to their dog, but really we’re all just seconds away from all out panic! Most of my thought process during walks is ‘don’t do that, don’t do that, oh for god sake, don’t do that.’

brushingboots · 19/05/2025 17:29

@YorkshireFelix Hahaha do you remember a while ago when a man in the woods told me that I had 'the aura of a dog trainer' (insert raised eyebrow) and I thought that was utterly mad because I definitely don't and pupsy is feral?! But I think there is something in pretending that you do have your shit together. I always say that if you walk around confidently with a hi-vis vest on and a clipboard in your hand no one will ever question you – and that's basically true for most things, albeit without the hi-vis.

brushingboots · 19/05/2025 17:30

@LandSharksAnonymous Sorry to hear you had a crappy (literally) walk, but hopefully you didn't fall in a bog, like old bog-lady here (that's one for the founding members)

YorkshireFelix · 19/05/2025 18:06

@brushingboots you definitely have dog trainer aura! I understand what he means 😂

Edited

I am hoping they will both get on, as V can be very nervy around other dogs. Each time we’ve seen each other briefly, both dogs have just sat and not been interested in one and other and that’s how Vinny usually likes it so fingers crossed 😄

brushingboots · 19/05/2025 18:09

@YorkshireFelix Noooooooo, I just pretend. You're blinded by my dazzling array of gilets!!! Hahaha.

LandSharksAnonymous · 19/05/2025 18:15

@brushingboots no bogs! But I did a rather ungraceful climb (on my hands and feet, like some sort of evil horror movie creature) up the river embankment that I slid down when twatdog smashed into my back and sent me tumbling.

That being said, twatdog is being incredibly good tonight with cuddles and kisses…so maybe he’s feeling a bit of guilty. Or maybe he just wants my mango.

CoubousAndTourmalet · 19/05/2025 19:25

I have "clueless lady owner" aura down pat. Like "oh bless her, she should have got a Westie, fnar fnar" type of thing. Spaniel men, macho men, builders, you know the types 😏

Infantile, I know, but lately I get a kick out of saying "good girl" and watching their eyes pop out on stalks 😁

CoubousAndTourmalet · 20/05/2025 11:38

So, a 6am walk, then straight back to loafing. Which is, after all, what Brie excels at. That expression... 😂

Thank you 😊 She really is lovely, but her facial expressions just crack me up. She's such a character.

Gorgeous, even when loafing!

I'm loving this weather, not so much the ticks that seem to have thrived on it.

Bloody hate ticks!
I've got seven off my puppy's head in the last two days. It's cost me a lot of squirty cheese.

tizwozliz · 21/05/2025 08:39

We don't live in a very tick heavy area. Normally mine only pick them up on holiday if we go to Devon or Scotland or similar but we've had a few this year that must have been picked up locally. Maybe they were hiding amongst the lupins.

Thankfully, they're both very tolerant at letting me remove them.

I'm in Scotland and walk in woods daily.
The adult dogs are cooperative. The 7 month old is alright with body ones, but wouldn't keep still for the head ones without a bribe/distraction.
Might look into Seresto collars again. I think they stop ticks biting whereas everything else seems to only kill them after they have bitten.

tizwozliz · 21/05/2025 08:54

Yes, the first year we went to Scotland the little one was on a treatment that killed them but I found removing them when they're dead and tiny was more of a pain.

As we don't normally get a lot it didn't seem worth having the treatment.

I was considering trying some neem spray for this year's trip to Scotland.

brushingboots · 21/05/2025 08:55

@tizwozliz Truly you have got the knack of photographing black dogs!

A lot of them have to go through a filter in snapseed if you actually want to see their features 😁 I think the shinyness helps too

YorkshireFelix · 21/05/2025 14:22

I found a couple of ticks on Vinny for the first time on Saturday when we were walking in Clumber Park. I’ve never seen them before!
