Can I take my dog to the bank?

Not much more to say really - just have a cheque to pay in and a 4 month old puppy who would benefit from a visit to town.

Are most banks dog friendly?

Many don’t have the app and never want to have it!

many of us have to use the app as there are no banks within a 100 mile radius! Even a working cash machine is not guaranteed anymore.

My bank has dog biscuits, so obviously my dogs love going there. They get such a fuss made of them.

I’m a dog lover but I do think the trend of allowing them everywhere as got a bit out of hand.

I was in a very smart restaurant for lunch the other week and a couple walked in with two large dogs. They sat under the table next to us and were no bother but if my DD had been with me I would have had to leave. She’s very allergic.

Not the place for dogs.

I think it’s crazy. I also like dogs but I have quite a few friends who are scared of them - and this trend is making life really difficult for them. Even for those of us that like dogs - they can be smelly, and bark (I was in quite a fancy restaurant recently where a dog was barking). Even I don’t want them in a restaurant.

My dog has been in several banks (before covid) and recently too. Always most welcome and fussed over

He's also been to the solicitors (house sale), executors (estate of mum) and I used to leave him outside the pharmacy but they keep telling me to bring him in so I do now.

My hairdresser (and collegues) get upset when I go without the dog.

He is small though and cute and well behaved (mostly!)

I also return my John Lewis Parcels via Dobbies garden centre which is very handy. They are dog friendly too and have a dog bowl with water at the entrance.

Call and ask?
I am not sure how a call centre on the other side of the world will be able to advise

Why would you take it to a bank ? Not a great environment for a dog

Because I was going to take him to town to learn about roads and traffic, and pop in to the vets to get weighed, but I also needed to pay a damaged cheque in - it was damaged so would be rejected by the app. I can't leave him in the car as he would eat All. Of. The. Things. He'll happily stay home, but pups need to learn stuff too.

I personally don't I leave my dog home and walk with him elsewhere but that's what people say in my husband's shop it's the equality act, better than leaving your dog outside if you have no option. There was a dog killed left tied up outside our local co op by another dog, people like you are just aggressive and rude think about that, there are reasons people don't want to or can't leave their dog and other than assistance there are service dogs and comfort dogs now.

Therapy / Emotional support dogs aren’t recognised at all in UK law, only trained Assistance Dogs.
