We applied to Pact and Dogs Trust after Christmas and I've been stalking the West Suffolk RSPCA website, but no luck.

Can anyone recommend other reputable UK-based rehoming organisations? We're happy to travel up to 6 hours, but appreciate this could create problems with the home inspection and any post-adoption support.

I'll post our list of requirements and what we can offer as a home below in case any one can offer any advice. It's very possible we're looking for the impossible, but I'm keen to exhaust all options!

There's also breed specific rescues to look at OP. Spaniel Aid are national, and the location of each dog is on their website.

(Shouldn't have looked... those beautiful dogs 😍)

Another update: I'm trying not to get too excited, but AARR emailed back with a suggestion!

I don't know much about him yet, except he is an unclaimed stray and, in a strange twist of fate, looks to be a breed very similar to my last dog.

I'm going to hold off making any more applications for the moment, but Ivy and Buster also both look as if they'd potentially be a good fit for us. Thank you! Arty is also gorgeous - I think I was initially put off him because the only cocker I know is capable of vertical take off like a harrier jump jet..!

Thank you all so much for all the links and suggestions.

I promise to keep you all updated!

There is also Faith Animal Rescue and Hillside dog rescue in Norfolk, they don't always have up to date into on their website so best to contact them. There is also spaniel assist rescue and rehome, if you were thinking of a spaniel, they don't all do vertical jumping 😁, I've never had one that does.

FINAL UPDATE:

We have a very happy ending to our search! We picked up our lovely little boy from AARR this morning and we are already all head over heels in love with him. He's a perfect fit for our family and I hope we will give him the best life ever.

I'm so grateful to everyone on here for the encouragement and the help finding him.

Congratulations on your new family member 🐶 especially lovely that you rescued a dog in need ❤️

ClaudiaWinklepanda · 03/03/2024 10:05

Can we see a photo?

Icequeen01 · 03/03/2024 11:21

I'm hoping for a photo too. Please don't let this be your last up-date. I'm sure many of us would love to have up-dates on how things are going.

Monsterjam · 03/03/2024 11:22

Holbrook animal rescue in West Sussex. On face book x

Pinchpleat · 03/03/2024 12:22

Happy to oblige!

The first photo is one taken by the rescue. I'm sure they won't mind me sharing it. The second is him on his way home with us and looking rather uncertain! Most of my photos are of him sleeping like in the last photo because it's the only time he's been still enough to capture! He's a little whirlwind of energy!

We took him to one of my favourite dog walking spots this morning and he loved it. He spent the majority of last night on teen daughter's bed.

Floralnomad · 03/03/2024 15:11

Icequeen01 · 03/03/2024 15:25

He is utterly adorable. Oh how he has fallen on his feet. Please update from time to time as to how he is getting on. Threads like these are my favourites!

CheapThrillsMeanNothing · 03/03/2024 16:55

@Pinchpleat
Have to tried breed rescues. I know there's a breed rescue for Golden retriever's and Dachshunds. Only any use if you have a rough idea of what breed you're interested in.
