What container do you put your dog treats in for when out walking?

Just that really.

I currently have them in a round Tupperware tub but though it’s not especially big, it takes up a bit of space in the bag where my gloves and extender lead go, and it’s too big for my pocket in case I want to give her an emergency treat for diversion tactics.

I hate using zip lock bags and want something similar idea to the Tupperware tub which keeps the food fresh, just not too big.

A treat pouch from Amazon that is clipped to my bag or my fanny pack, alongside with poo bags. Good thing is that I just need one hand to grab a treat.

bumbledenbarsk · 29/01/2024 09:21

Straight into my pocket. They are dry biscuit type snacks. No faffing about with boxes and pouches. But my coat is a dog walking coat so not for general wear!

SallyRedCoat · 29/01/2024 09:21

I’ll have a look at Amazon, thank you 🙂

I have a dog walking bag, with a section for treats.

Hmmm, mine is a dog walking jacket (old work thing), but I feed her dehydrated liver treats which stick to my hands a little.
A good idea though, and very handy for you by the sound of things.

I have a bag too, but because my gloves and extender lead go in it, plus it has the drawstring to close it, it’s a faff to open it, so they currently go in my pocket in the Tupperware thing.

Plastic bag!

Mine consider chicken/beef to be high value treats and in the pouches you can buy the bits of chicken get stuck or crumble off and you end up with 5/6month old mouldy bits of meat in there! And it inevitably ends up smelling (even if you get one that can be washed) which is just a tad grim. They only really work IME if you use proper treats rather than fresh cuts of meat

Plastic bags aren't particularly environmentally friendly but I reuse the bag for a few walks.

The skulls of small children we have attacked on walks of yore, of course.

A treat pouch on a belt if I'm trying to train (like PP said, they can get mucky and need a good wash). If it's a normal walk with less to reward, then a cross body bag with treats in a bag.

Nannyfannybanny · 29/01/2024 09:33

A little proper treat bag, looks like canvas. Clips on your clothing. Yes, you have to undo the drawstring, but I make sure I have a little in my hand. 6 months old border collie, trying to prevent her jumping up. Trouble is, people keep saying ",,ok,it's ok, I don't mind". That doesn't help. Poo bags, leads go in my pocket ATM. Warmer weather,no pockets, I have a bum bag that I use as a crossover

Powerplant · 29/01/2024 09:51

Poo bags in one pocket and dry treats in the other. I just found it quicker and easier than anything else.

KissTheRains · 29/01/2024 09:53

I bought one a bit like this one:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BQRC5FSW/ref=sspa_mw_detail_4?

Bit not that one itself. I carry a little crossbody bag everyday and it clips on and off it easily.

Yep little wanky bag with a strap and a clip here. Dpup is 5 months old and still at the stage of getting treats for even looking in the right direction so I need to carry loads and have fast access to them. It does have the added bonus of a little section for used poo bags which helps. Think it cost about a fiver off ebay. Once he's older I'll revert to pockets but it's substance over style at the moment!

EdithStourton · 29/01/2024 10:30

Bumbag with separate sections. Rewards in one (I use a silicone pouch if using cheese or similar), phone in another, etc.

Rosscameasdoody · 29/01/2024 10:35

We use a Tupperware type beaker that has a pouring hole and stopper - it’s a bit like a cereal container but much smaller. This way we can easily shake a few treats out at a time and then back into the pocket.

Springisintheairohyeah · 29/01/2024 14:30

I use a large open plastic beaker which I just pop upright into my coat pocket (requires deep pockets). Always open so you can get your hand in easily, and pockets stay clean

NoWordForFluffy · 29/01/2024 14:34

We have a silicone treat pouch. From Amazon, I think. DH bought a couple, for a few quid each.

ihavespoken · 29/01/2024 14:38

Pockets here - therefore I now have the dried out congealed sludge of Gravy Bone crumbs matted into the seams of many many jackets 😬

spiderlight · 29/01/2024 14:40

I have a little drawstring bag that I carry in my jeans pocket for general use around the house - this sort of thing - and a bigger treat pouch for when we're out, that either clips to my belt or lives in the pocket of my jacket. My current one is from the Dogs Trust charity shop, but these are good ones.

HanSB · 29/01/2024 15:03

I bought these plastic pop containers from ebay, think thye are designed for medicine? They are tubes you can squeeze with one hand and the lid pops open. Great for stinky treats!

SirChenjins · 29/01/2024 15:15

A silicone pouch from Amazon that clips onto my pocket or waist band that I can wash in between uses (or when I remember)

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 29/01/2024 15:47

Nothing - I don't give them treats when we're out, nor in the house either really - mean dog mum!
