Yeah! I once read about a guy with neuro issues whose sense of smell became weirdly enhanced, wish I could remember where I read it, years ago, maybe pre-internet even so could have been in a book. He was like a dog basically, can't remember if it wore off. Was fascinating. Must try to find it but I think googling 'man smelled like a dog' is unlikely to be productive.
Walking home from the hospital yesterday as I wasn't going to feel any crapper in the 'fresh air' (exhaust fumes mainly) and exercise is good for me, I was watching a woman walking a dog and the difference in the way the woman wanted to walk and the way the dog wanted to walk struck me, though it's obviously something you see every day but somehow I was noticing and thinking about it.
The woman was all 'we walk in a straight line because geometry is important and there are other people on the pavement' and the dog was leading with its nose and would suddenly swerve to investigate what SaveaFox calls 'peemail' on posts, bushes etc. So its preferred method of progress would look like a very wiggly line like a heart monitor on a map (not a healthy heart mind)
This isn't AIBU but I think the human and the dog each thought the other was being very very unreasonable! Actually would be interesting to read AIBUs written by dogs, but dogs aren't really set up for typing. It's the paws.
But sometimes the smell thing isn't helpful, a friend of mine had a cat that avoided her after chemo as it didn't like the chemical smell, though at other times a cuddly and supportive cat.
