Have 3 dogs. 2 over 5 and one puppy (9 months) who we did not intend to get but was more dumped on us at 10 weeks. But we love her.

We moved house 6 months ago, pup was still having accidents.

Dogs didn't want to poop outside as it was all flags.
So we took up 3mx3m of flags and put grass down.
They were much happier at going outside.

But every night I'm coming down to shit.

The older dogs are doing it and I'm pretty sure the puppy is EATING it.

As last night a chunk had been taken onto my fucking couch and her breath stunk of shit.

They get fed at 5pm. They go out for shits at night but they're still doing it inside.

My husband is on the verge of losing it.

Every morning the first thing we smell as we come downstairs is shit.

I'm sick to fucking death of it and I don't know what to do

Please help me :(

None of this sounds especially hard. Your dogs are probably stressed by the new move and new puppy, and not getting the structure and routine they need. Currently you’re getting results commensurate with the effort you’re putting in - you’re leaving them to their own devices, and so they’re doing exactly that.

Crate training for overnight would be your best bet. You got the dogs - make the space for them. Collapse the crates every morning if you have to.

Feed them later. The urge to go will be highest 8-12 hours after eating, especially if that’s when they’re waking up. I’m gonna bet you’re not getting up with these dogs super early - you’re probably asking them to hold that 5pm meal for 14+ hours.

New schedule suggestion:

  • Morning elimination walk, within 8 hours of evening meal. Say 7am.
  • Morning feed after walk, say 7:30am.
  • Proper walk during the day.
  • Evening elimination walk, say 10:30pm. Don’t just turn them out into the garden. Put coats on them if it’s cold or wet and walk them to some grass.
  • Evening feed before bed, say 11pm.
  • Into crates for 8 hours sleep.

Sounds like there’s lots of you at home, so you could do even better and get them out at 6am and put them to bed at midnight. Take it in turns to get up. If you’re not willing to do that, then PP’s suggestion of morning and lunchtime feeds is your best bet. Give them 12 hours from lunch and a nighttime elimination walk before bed

It might be worth moving meal time to the morning and ensure a walk before bed and if possible spectate the older dogs from the puppy.

I'm so sorry that you've been unwell and bereaved. What a sorting awful time for you Flowers

Add pineapple to their food, makes the poo taste bad, as if it tastes great without 🤷🏼‍♂️

This is why dogs are fucking disgusting, and why people dislike them / don't want them in cafes etc. Take the anthropomorphism out of it and they're fucking repulsive animals.

This is in active before the fur baby crowd arrive.

Responses like this remind me why I prefer dogs to people sometimes. Well. some people at least 😀

Take them for a walk 3 times a day. Our dog wont poo or wee in the garden, alot of dogs wont. You have to walk dogs, take them out morning, mid afternoon and before you go to bed

No need to feed the adult dogs in the evening unless there's a medical reason. Feed them in the morning. Puppy shouldn't be on anymore than two meals a day at 9 months and one meal if small breed.

My dog would start eating the furniture if he only had one meal a day.
