Winter Wellies

My muck boot wellies have finally given up the ghost so I’m on the lookout for a replacement. I’m not wanting the same again as they have a tendency to rub, and I’d also rather have a pair with rubber all the way up the leg. My requirements are -
Warm ( neoprene lined )
Comfortable
Durable
Chunky non slip sole
Suitable for short legs. This is normally tricky!
Ideally less than £150
Any recommendations would be lovely, thank you!

Jilleons? They have ankle wellies and shorter wellies.

Cydonia · 24/11/2023 09:17

Ooh not heard of those. My problem is I want full length wellies but for short legs 😂They always come half way over my knee which is annoying, but I need them longer than calf length for deep puddles, gullies etc.

Grubs Wellies, I have a pair if frostline but the do shorter.

Iheartmysmart · 24/11/2023 09:24

I’m really short and have a pair of Aigle Parcours. I’ve had them for four years and they’re still going strong. It’s a pain buying wellies when you have short legs, some of the dig in behind the knee.

Ariat

Newpeep · 24/11/2023 09:46

I like my Aigle Parcours. I prefer to wear long socks in the winter so neoprene would be too warm but they do a neoprene version too.

wherethewildtbingsgo · 24/11/2023 10:45

I love my Le chameau neoprene lined ones

Cydonia · 24/11/2023 14:48

Thanks everyone! A few brands there I hadn’t thought of so will have a look.

I have had Aigle for ages.

Darklane · 24/11/2023 17:33

I always buy mine from the local farmers feed merchant’s shop. Cheap, sturdy & last for years, can’t even remember when I bought my current pair as it’s so many years ago.

Muck boots

MissRainbowBrite · 24/11/2023 20:32

I've got Aigle Parcours and they're fab. I only have short legs and they're perfect, they don't dig in at all. Look on Amazon, if you aren't too fussed on colour you can drop on some good deals.

Muck boots

The OP says in her first paragraph that she doesn't want another pair of muckboots.

YourWinter · 24/11/2023 20:46

Grubs, definitely, fab grip, various lengths. I have the Midline short wellies, which are much better than short Muck Boots as I don’t slip over and they don’t pull off in deep mud. Longer styles are available. I got mine new from eBay.

Mumaway · 24/11/2023 20:47

Dunlop Blizzards, well under budget too

allhellcantstopusnow · 24/11/2023 20:48

I have Jileons. They're warm, adjustable calves and have some arch support.

Cydonia · 24/11/2023 21:40

Love the look of the Aigle Parcour, but ouch they’re expensive!

Barbour Tempest?

These are brilliant but the last pair I bought were much smaller than usual, hopefully just a one off!

Jorvik1978 · 24/11/2023 22:00

I have a pair of le Chameau neoprene lined wellies. They are expensive but currently on their 7th winter and showing no signs of wearing out yet, despite being worn daily for half of the year, mucking out, yard work and dog walking.

Griggs country stores are cheapest.

When I bought my Le chameau recently the man in the shop said that aigle are more suitable if you have a wide calf. My mum has a pair and agrees they are very roomy round the calf. The chameau I think are more narrow/standard. So that might be worth taking into account depending on your calves.

Yes they’re generous. I haven’t so I need to pull mine right in with the clip. What I like about them is they are very flexible but supportive. I can walk 3-4 miles in them with no problems unlike other wellies. I tend to wear walking boots and gaiters for proper walking, coast path etc, but my Aigles are good for muddy fields, woods, streams etc.

Yes that sounds exactly like what I want them for! My calves are quite muscular but I don’t normally need wide fit.

My Le Chameau ones are over 20 years old and as good as new. So warm and reliable! I appreciate they're not £50 any more as they were when I bought them, but they're definitely worth the money because they're so good, and last so long.
