Winter Wellies

My muck boot wellies have finally given up the ghost so I’m on the lookout for a replacement. I’m not wanting the same again as they have a tendency to rub, and I’d also rather have a pair with rubber all the way up the leg. My requirements are -
Warm ( neoprene lined )
Comfortable
Durable
Chunky non slip sole
Suitable for short legs. This is normally tricky!
Ideally less than £150
Any recommendations would be lovely, thank you!

I had 3 pairs of Aigle parcours in a row but every single one of them split on the sides so I wasn't investing in another. I got some Hunter hybrid wellies and they're a joy - warm, thick soled and I can walk miles with the dogs in them.

As they're stretchy, they're a really good fit. I'm very impressed and this is my second winter with them.

My Le Chameau ones are over 20 years old and as good as new. So warm and reliable! I appreciate they're not £50 any more as they were when I bought them, but they're definitely worth the money because they're so good, and last so long.

20 years! That’s got to be a world record! I’ve been holding off looking at Le Chameau due to the price, but maybe I will look. They are my Christmas present from DP ( my idea 😉 ) so I guess it depends on what he’s willing to pay for a pair of wellies!

That’s disappointing. I must admit I was avoiding Hunters as my last pair didn’t last long at all, but those ones do look good.

You're going to have to go in with a hard sell! I wear my Le Chameau so much, for dog walking, mucking out horses and clearing fields etc - now that's value for money! I bought my husband some really lovely neoprene-liined Hunters a few years ago and they split after a year, both boots. So disappointing.

Missingmyusername · 27/11/2023 20:00

Might not be any good if you get mega muddy though! Think it’s more boot than welly!

Cydonia · 27/11/2023 20:07

I think I’d struggle with those , they look really long. The Le Chameaus are 40cm tall which is too long for my stumpy legs 😢

I'd never have gone near a pair of Hunter wellies to be honest until I saw those. I walk about 5 miles a day at least with them on in the winter, and they're completely waterproof.

@Cydonia Le Chameau wellies are on offer on ‘Brand Alley’ at the moment.Think I paid £60 for them but until recently they did have a bigger selection including the leather ones. I just took delivery of a pair of fleece lined ones. The material is way more supple than Hunters which makes them easier to get off. I found them to be wider than Hunters at the calf. Hope that helps!

Cydonia · 30/11/2023 07:55

It’s the length really rather than the width for those, but I’ll have a look, would never have thought of Brand Alley for wellies!

My Le Chameaus lasted over 20 years, and eventually the rubber began to perish (in the leg not the foot/sole). I recently replaced them with a pair of Ariats, which I think are not quite as long in the leg as the Le Chameaus I had, but are also very comfortable.

I'm absolutely thrilled with my recent Le chameau purchase. They are really soft and supple so they are easy to pull on, lightweight and the neoprene ones I've got are really warm (I have terrible cold feet).
