Hello from Beginpup, who had an inflatable cone for a few days due to a sore bumhole 🥴. He found it quite comfy to have a snooze on though I think! Haven’t been on in ages, he’s now 15months, but saw this pop up in active. Hi all

FluffyPup would've loved that, Lougle. He's mad on carrots!

We do every walk as a sniffy walk. It absolutely wipes him out and he loves it. He's loving piles of leaves and massive puddles at the moment.

(Ignore the boxes; we're moving soon!)

Freddie is obsessed with leaves. Chasing them, eating them, carrying them around!

Same here. He was trying to take on a fatsia leaf the other day which was amusing.

Pineapplepup sleeping on my arm last night whilst being a delight with her harness on.

The minute the harness came off, she went mad and was quite frankly a pain in the arse until bedtime

We have collected Benji and he has settled in really well so far. Had a poo and wee outside so he was praised to the heavens.
He does stink though so wondered how soon can we wash him? 🤣

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/11/2023 14:15

I washed Maggie after one week. I let her wallow in her funk for a few days to settle in, then she needed a bath. I just ran 2 inches of water and let her swish around in it. I probably should do her again really.

FoxRedPuppy · 19/11/2023 16:07

Freddie gets a shower down almost daily, because of the amount of mud from our walks! Just use water though, no soap at the moment.

Hiddendoor · 19/11/2023 18:45

I'm needing to bathe hiddenpup, she's absolutely manky but I can't face the sad eyes!

Lougle · 19/11/2023 20:43

I could really do with Hazel changing her body clock. She has tea at 5.30pm then she falls asleep for pretty much the night. She's waking at about 9.30pm for toileting but that means she's up at 5.30am for toilet and about 06.15am for the day. I know we're lucky she's so settled in the evening but if she just stayed up until 7.30pm we might get through to 7am with a toilet stop at 10.30pm or so.

This is our first night. We plan on sleeping downstairs as crate too big to go upstairs. Is it best to put him in crate and shut the door or leave door open? It's been open all day and he's been in and out of it but should we shut him in there at night?

Sunflowers098 · 19/11/2023 21:46

@cockapup
Hi, we put pup in crate downstairs and shut the door and I slept next to him on a mattress. His crate was covered with a big blanket. He cried about 10 minutes, and I just said settle down in a really monotone voice literally over and over for 10 minutes . Then he was asleep. Got him up at about 1am, outside fir wee, no talking back in crate, more boring voice settle down settle down.... asleep. Second night cried for 5 minutes, third night about 30 seconds. Did this for about 2 weeks moving further away each night. He was quiet no whimpering after about 4 nights. I used a timer to see progress!! ( bit of a control freak )
Back upstairs after 2 weeks. Never heard a peep out of him at night since he's 15 months now sleeps 10:30 - 8am downstairs on his own. Ditched the crate about 6 months old.

@Lougle thank you for starting new thread, I accidentally posted on the previous one but MN helped me copy and paste to here.

Bertie has found his voice and i'm having lightbulb moments. He's also found how to play and tease me, giving me the literal runaround when in the pen for poos and wees. Or running under the bed when I want to take him out for toiletting. He sits til I'm just about to pick him up and then runs away - such fun for him, very very embaressing for me in my pjs, dressing gown and coat over the top. Being a woman of a certain age I already don't need any excuse to get a sweat on but he's found another one for me.

Last night I put him down for the night and he started whining and then full on barking until I put him in the crate on my bed because I'm in friends house (only until 11th December, yay!!) and he has neighbours. But it didn't stop and I suddenly realised I'd cleared out his crate earlier and didn't put his blanky with a teddy head thingy back in - he's had that since I collected him and brought him home. Instant quiet and sleep, so (another) lesson learned.

Is that working this morning???? Not a bit of it. He wants to sleep under the wardrobe. Or in his other bed which isn't in the crate. He's very settled right now in the crateless bed next to me but I can't leave him, can I??? What do other folk do who choose not to use a crate?? I bought an indoor puppy pen yesterday for my new house so I can pop him in during the day when I'm in another room but it's a bit big to put up in friends house and fiddly to put up and take down every day. I wondered if he's feeling anxious or something, I'm not sure why though as nothing has changed (I bought a new water bowl for his crate and he needed to bark it into submission but he's drinking from it now so I assume he's letting it stay).

Another post, sorry, I'm nearly 4 weeks into puppy induced sleep deprivation so not really the full ticket.
I do rather like seeing him snooze out of his crate though. It feels more natural in a way. But not terribly practical when I need to go out and leave him (to chew everything he's not supposed to).
Bertie also loves to chase and eat leaves, he had a thoroughly enjoyable 10 minutes of chasing them yesterday in the garden with me on the other end of the lead trying to keep up. Also very entertaining for onlookers.
