Our KC came aged 2 having had no training. She was easily distracted by the scent of deer at first and on one occasion got horrendously lost.I persevered with watching her like a hawk and putting her back on the lead if she was in anyway distracted and she stopped running off. Our other dog at the time never went far so she probably learned the drill from her too. The one area we never got fully on top of was around food eg small children feeding the ducks or having little snacks in their buggies. We would have to tether her if there was any temptation of that sort around.
