He’s 12 weeks old a chihuahua weighs 600 grams he fell into the car park at Asda he rolled down the side of the seat and landed on his side on the ground he yelped for wha seamed forever but was maybe 15-25 seconds I cuddled him immediately he seams ok but does seam tired but it would be his nap time anyways so maybe I’m just over reading it all. I tried to google it said pups are very robust and bouncy but I’m freaking out he does seam ok he’s walking normally he’s eating and drinking it only just happened 20mins ago he’s barking and alert! Has anyone ever dropped their puppy I’m so worried were they ok ?

As an aside @Shoot4theMoon , I wouldn’t leave the dog in the car with the children( or on its own ) as dogs get stolen from cars all the time and there are some right scoundrels who would think nothing of grabbing a puppy from a child .

The child with the dog didn’t open the door though.

None of this would be a problem had the dog been left in its harness! There's no reason the son couldn't keep the dog company while still clipped in.

Did you take him to the vets OP?

If this is actually real you need to take it to a vet to check over it and stop letting children handle a tiny puppy

Yes, if

Posts like this make me sad.

There should be much more rigorous vetting before people can own dogs

Yes, if

All those questioning whether or not it’s real are kidding yourself

of course there are shitty and irresponsible and negligent dog owners, and to think otherwise is kidding yourself. Many many many of them in fact

Exactly my thoughts.

OP obviously wasn't vetted by the breeder / previous O at all beforehand.
Clearly has no idea of the law in this country and if Vet treatment was free of charge she'd have been at the vets having the little one checked out with no time to create a MN post.

'Your child has clearly demonstrated they can't be trusted to look after the puppy so I hope you needed leave them unsupervised again until dog is fully grown.'

'But your answer to that should have been no. Sure, stay in car with puppy, but with puppy still safely restrained.'

These responses are so strange. This was clearly an accident due to the other child opening the door and does not demonstrate that the older child can't be trusted to look after the puppy at all!

Accidents do happen and sometimes we can predict everything that might occur!

I'm sure in the future the op will keep the puppy restrained at all times, but it wasn't unreasonable to allow the child to hold the puppy while the car was stationary and this was an unfortunate accident.

I hope the puppy is ok @Shoot4theMoon

Can't predict

Trixiefirecracker · 14/05/2023 08:40

I don’t understand why you wouldn’t take to vets asap
