Anyone had experience of them. I am having to rehome my dog through illness and they take peoples dogs if you are over 65. They sound good but are a long way from me and I cant get transport to them. They have said they would take her but Im now wondering about it all.

The cinammon trust are more likely to provide your dog with a safe home for her old age than the RSPCA

Cariadz · 14/01/2023 19:46

this one. It seems to be for those who’d like to keep their doggy with them and if something happens to the owner everything is already in place for the doggy to be collected and rehomed. Maybe you could get dog walkers in and sign up for this scheme also.

www.rspca.org.uk/whatwedo/care/homeforlife/howitworks

The RSPCA will do "everything they can". That didn't mean much. The Dog's Trust never put a healthy dog down. That is a significant difference.

Cariadz · 14/01/2023 21:29

The important thing is that Theresonlyoneofme has as many places to turn to for help and advice as it’s possible to find for her. And the more choice and information she has can only be a good thing.

Those of us who know her from another thread will have been thinking about this for quite some time now and want nothing more than for this to work out.

fatherfurlong · 15/01/2023 12:53

Which part of Kent are you in?
I recently volunteered with the Cinnamon Trust.

thereisonlyoneofme · 15/01/2023 15:47

thereisonlyoneofme · 16/01/2023 16:13

Sorry cant seem to PM. Interested you are i n Kent. I wanted the CT to permanently rehome at their |Sanctuary as discussed with one of their people, but now it seems they will look to rehome or foster !

My friend volunteers in London and she loves it. I met a lovely lady on a train with a very happy and friendly staffie. We got chatting about her dog and she had been a volunteer at CT and ended up adopting the little staffie when her owner went into a home. They often put appeals out for dog walkers on FB.

fatherfurlong · 17/01/2023 20:33

@thereisonlyoneofme

Sorry, I am in North Kent so too far away. I wish you luck in getting help.

MarmiteCoriander · 17/01/2023 20:45

Our elderly neighbour adopted a cat from the Cinnamon trust. It was brought to her in an air conditioned pet taxi during the heat wave and they pay all vet bills going forward!

IF there is someone in need in an area not already covered, they will ask on their website for walkers in X area. Would help with walking be what you need right now? I was looking into doing volunteering myself but they got too many offers! They seem like a lovely, caring charity from what I've heard/seen.

This is because it is nicer for your dog to carry on living in a home with an owner like she has been used to , the Cinammon trust will try and match her with a similar situation as yourself and they really do follow up and keep an eye on their fostered animals .

thereisonlyoneofme · 18/01/2023 17:30

Im going to need them soon, things going downhill. Trying to find someone I know or someone that knowssomeone I know. But will let her go to the CT if theyll take her; If she does go to them you can bet someone local will say they would have had her. Had to make a emergency call to kennels today as thought Iwas going to have to go to A & E

@thereisonlyoneofme I am so sorry that things are getting harder for you.

I know I am a random on the internet but if I can help at all with rehoming your dog then do just ask.

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 18/01/2023 18:35

So sorry to hear this @thereisonlyoneofme - I hope that your health does improve. Keeping the two of you together would be such a good thing.

I'm in the opposite position .

My much loved dog died this month and I'm missing him - but also his walks.

Your post has inspired me to apply to the CT as a volunteer to help someone stay with their dog a bit longer ... I do hope that they cover my area here in W Dorset.

Choccyoclocky · 18/01/2023 18:40

My mum recently rehomed 2 sister dogs from there as their owner died. My mum has spoken to the company a few times (obviously) and she's always said how lovely they were. The dogs are very very happy now.

Wolfiefan · 18/01/2023 18:53

OP I’m so sorry. Could your breeder help or where you rescued from? Does vet know anyone? Could you use a home boarder as a kind of respite care??

thereisonlyoneofme · 18/01/2023 18:59

I think it is one of the good charities most people seem to have had good experience. Wolfiefan she came from a puppy breeding farm in terrible condition so Im very wary of what happens to her. Devastated in having to lose her. Home boards are all full to bursting here.

Liesdonotbecomeus Im sure they do cover Dorset they are always needing volunteers like most charities. Apply, I was going to apply they are quite strict you need references !

NanaWelshcake · 18/01/2023 19:06

Theresonlyoneofme, coukd you go to the press in your area and see if anyone could offer you the move that you want for your dog?

Wolfiefan · 18/01/2023 19:09

I wish I could help but we are SW. is she a particular breed? Breed rescue?

vjg13 · 18/01/2023 20:10

@thereisonlyoneofme I'm so sorry that you need the CT to re home your dog but I have volunteered for them for about 15 years. I currently walk a dog but have done home checks and had 2 long term foster dogs in the past. There are a lovely charity to deal with as and very supportive. There is always an article about their sanctuary in the newsletters.

thereisonlyoneofme · 19/01/2023 15:51

vjg13 I have been in contact with CT today theyare aware.Luckily she has been registered with tghem for some time, they dont seem to be accepting if not already registered, find it hard to let her go but after a panic yesterday I need to give them timew to find someone. Things seem to be getting worse, they may improve for a while but how do you know tghe right time. Its worse because Ive no family or friends that can take her fore more than a couple of days. Sorry for dreadful typing - part of problem. They wont keep her in their sanctuary apparently her health is not bad enough, pity because I think it would be ideal and she would obviously not get passed around

OP posts:
vjg13 · 19/01/2023 18:36

The CT do require the owner to have done their paperwork prior to them accepting dogs. I hope it helps to know that i absolutely adored the 2 long term foster dogs I had and they had a home with me for the rest of their lives. The CT really supported them well with the vet care which was expensive.

thereisonlyoneofme · 21/01/2023 14:53

What happens with Cinnamon Trust if foster carer doesnt want to keep dog. Ive had to request help from them today things not good. They are aware she needs somewhere soon. It means me admitting that that thjings are ending and I find it impossible unfortunately

OP posts:
vjg13 · 21/01/2023 16:13

They have a list of volunteers who are prepared to take on long term foster dogs. I think they would try another if the first home didn't work out. I am so sorry that your health is worsening and you need this help.
