My Greyhound told me to go to bed...

As we all know Greyhounds are extremely lazy. Mine takes himself off to bed when I blow the candles out start putting lights off etc. He races up stairs to get prime position in the bed. Tonight I stayed up later as I was working. Bold boy came down and started barking at me. Did he want a drink?, need out for a poo? Nope it was get yourself up to bed woman way past your bed time. He is currently lying against me in bed snoring away. Love him to bits. Pic just because he is cute x

Ha, ha, he's got you well trained! Smile Lovely pics - they make me wish I wasn't allergic to dogs.

ShottaSheriff · 06/01/2022 02:02

Ha - how very greyhound like! He is too cute! Ours would know to get up and head to the back door as soon as the TV turned off and then would wait patiently by the treat cupboard for her bed time schmacko then chase up up the stairs! She died earlier this year Sad and I still miss her little sighs from her bed next to me. Not so much the noisy 3am butt licking though!

ShaneTheThird · 06/01/2022 02:02

Oh how lovely!

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 06/01/2022 02:09

Mine is the (probably tiny in comparison) twin of yours.
She likes to keep everyone in a routine.

She was telling my (teenage) sons off today for trying to lift each other off the floor.

As long as we do as we're told, it's all fine.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 06/01/2022 02:09

We currently have 2am licking noises though and she just took herself for a trot around the hard floor.
One rule for her...

Usernameisgone · 06/01/2022 02:29

Gorgeous boy! My yorkie often takes himself to bed, then after an hour or so comes to get me for bed. 🤣

JasmineGarden · 06/01/2022 02:33

I could do with a nanny greyhound!!

My friends one has NONmanner. Typical greyhound, gets up in the couch beside you, 'snuggles in' then 'stretches' (pushes) until you comply and go sit in the armchair, then complains he's cold & wants you back to cuddle... rinse & repeat🙄🙄

I’m sorry for your loss, they are lovely natured dogs.
QOD · 06/01/2022 04:18

My chihuahua starts tapping my feet from 9.40 onward. If I’m not turning off the tv and remotely turning the kettle on by 10.02 she’s fuming (yes. Yes she has a cup of decaf tea in her own tiny mug in bed …)
If dh doesn’t come up too she’ll go back down and shout at him until he gives in

Kanaloa · 06/01/2022 04:20

How cute 😂 can he not go to bed alone? Or does he just need to ensure all the lights are out before he beds down for the evening?

Toddlerteaplease · 06/01/2022 04:52

Obviously all these dogs identify as cats!

DontKnowWhatToThink7 · 06/01/2022 05:06

So cute

CallMeBettyBoop · 06/01/2022 05:08

Sighthounds are the BEST Smile

QueenofLouisiana · 06/01/2022 05:28

Mine has just woken me up with noisy ear flapping, he’s cold and needed to be tucked in again- thanks. He’s already in his fleecy vest, so should be reasonably , but still likes a blanket tucked round him.
They aren’t like other dogs are they?

*reasonably warm

Greyhound is asleep again, I’m awake an hour early and can’t doze off.

tunainatin · 06/01/2022 05:34

He looks very reproachful in those photos!

sashh · 06/01/2022 05:50

LOL

One of my visits to Australia I was staying with my cousin and her husband. I was still on London time so I stayed up reading. There dog, which was half dingo didn't like this and growled for me to go to bed.

My cat likes to be in the same room as me, sometimes when she's asleep I will sneak out and see how long it takes her to come looking for me.

mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork · 06/01/2022 10:45

My staffy cross goes to bed about 9.30. I sometimes stay up quite late. After about 11.00, she will come along to stand at the door and stare hard at me until I look up and say I will be along to bed soon and then she will go back to bed, job done. (If I don't turn up, she will be back again with the stare).

Beamur · 06/01/2022 10:48

I get herded to bed by 2 cats...

mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork · 06/01/2022 10:49

She also does the ear flapping/noisy lengthy scratching thing from her bed in the cooler middle of the night to wake me up to lift duvet so she can join me in the warm.

CMOTDibbler · 06/01/2022 10:51

Ddog1 (saluki lurcher) has never managed to adapt to DS getting older and therefore going to bed later. Therefore at 7pm he is snuggled down in ds's bed waiting for him.

Davros · 06/01/2022 10:55

We've been herded by our cat many times. Loud miaowing and standing nearby, we try to work out if she's hungry or cold or wants to go outside but she stops when you go where she wants.

Seainasive · 06/01/2022 10:59

So I’ve been trying to persuade DH that we should get a dog and that a greyhound would be just right for us. Am now somewhat alarmed that they expect to come into bed with you Shock. Can they be trained to stay in their own bed, downstairs, or should I just give up on the idea? Sorry for the hijack.

MintyGreenDream · 06/01/2022 11:00

@QOD we have 2 Chihuahuas they're great aren't they

dudsville · 06/01/2022 11:00

That's a gorgeous dog! I have one that does a snort of complaint and another that does The Stare if bedtime is even just a little later than usual.
