My ancient yard boots have bitten the dust after years of wear.

Need a pair of warm, mudproof boots for winter walks in the countryside. Will be doing fields, woods and muddy towpath walks.

Wellies, country boots, walking boots.....I don't know where to start!

Happy to pay for decent quality.

I have woof wear short yard boots for days when it’s not wellie weather and when it’s wellie weather I wear Dublin River boots or Aigle wellingtons .

islaviolent · 26/08/2021 17:57

Iv got Dubarry boots , cost quite a lot but they keep my feet dry and warm.

TooTiredToBeCreative · 26/08/2021 18:28

Muck boots for me, warm and comfortable!

Justmuddlingalong · 26/08/2021 18:30

Something by Sorel. Waterproof, warm and comfy.

SnarkyBag · 26/08/2021 18:32

Muck boots. Super warm and much more comfortable than standard wellies

JuneFromBethesda · 26/08/2021 18:34

I buy cheap waterproof walking shoes from Mountain Warehouse, walk them to pieces, then buy a new pair. A pair is usually around £30 and last on average 2 years. I’m lazy about shoe maintenance so prefer this approach to buying anything more expensive that I have to take care of Blush

MissyB1 · 26/08/2021 18:36

I am determined to treat myself to muck boots this winter!

BrilloPaddy · 26/08/2021 18:42

I've got a pair of Muck Boots (Liberty) that are rubberised but look like leather chelsea boots that I live in for autumn and spring. In the winter I wear Aigle parcours or knee high muck boots. All have got really good soles and arch support.

And you can't beat a pair of DM rigger boots....... fur lined, leather and impossible to wear out, perfect for long country walks in the dry.

MissMarpleRocks · 26/08/2021 18:50

Another muckboots fan here.

GuyFawkesDay · 26/08/2021 18:52

Oh the rigger boots are gorgeous.

Am very aware that last winter some of the walks were ankle deep+ mid so grip is going to be key in winter.

Hmmm. Maybe I need TWO pairs 😜

Have a look at decathlon .

bingohandjob · 27/08/2021 07:17

Muck Boots - worn them even in the warmest weather this summer as the grass so dewy and we take pup for early off lead walks so it's cooler for him. Been great for a paddle in the sea with him, too.

bingohandjob · 27/08/2021 07:19

Sportpursuit often have good deals on decent kit including bits and bobs for dogs as well as your feet Grin

Kayjay2018 · 27/08/2021 07:23

My husband does loads of dog walking and has boots for different conditions. The most successful for last winter were mountain warehouse mucker boots www.mountainwarehouse.com/mucker-womens-neoprene-long-boots-p23876.aspx/

For that time between summer/ autumn up to winter he tends to have Merrell goretex boots (I have a north face equivalent)

wetotter · 27/08/2021 07:40

I have Dublin boots which are going strong (used to have Dubarry's, but I don't think the quality is what is was when I got my first pair which lasted 7 years)

I also have a pair of fur-cuffed DMs

Bryonyshcmyony · 27/08/2021 07:43

I have a pair of decathlon wellies - aigle rip offs - neoprene lined, chunky and massively comfortable. I also have grubs short ankle length wellies and a pair of disgusting old trainers with no laces for very hot sunny weather (very rural here so even in dry sunny weather there's rough terrain and dust)

Benjispruce5 · 27/08/2021 07:50

Peter Storm Snowdon boots are the best boots my feet have known. Brown leather but waterproof, super cushioned and insulated. Bought DH some too and we both love them. They’re like an off road vehicle. Wear them for dog walks and for climbing Snowdon recently. Never had a wet or cold foot.

Jamandlemoncurd · 27/08/2021 07:53

Ariats.

poodlefan · 27/08/2021 08:29

I’ve got Aigle neoprene lined wellies I suffer from cold I’m hard on shoes boots and Shoes walk 15 000 steps a day most days I walk through mud sand the sea woods climb over rocks and the paths are very stoney here. I’ve had them a year ok the heal is a bit worn down but that’s only to expected but apart from that they look as good as new. I think they cost about £160. We live by a mountain that’s steep to climb up they don’t really offer sufficient ankle/foot support to do that although I guess you could do it if you were careful but they do offer sufficient support for all other types of walking.

DoorbellsSleighbellsSchnitzel · 27/08/2021 08:38

I love my Bareback Footwear Quebec Boots

They've seen me through many puddles, streams, fields full of ankle deep mud, and are still comfortable and going strong.

GuyFawkesDay · 27/08/2021 10:19

Ooh @DoorbellsSleighbellsSchnitzel I was looking at bareback knee length country boots but those are perfect! Thank you.

I've got some very old hunter wellies which I may crack out but I have hockey player/horse rider calves and they're a beggar to get off but maybe if I'm walking more I'll shift some weight 😂

DoorbellsSleighbellsSchnitzel · 31/08/2021 08:12

Ooh go for the Quebecs, you won't regret it! I am somewhat chunky of calf and they are fine!

BlibBlabBlob · 31/08/2021 08:20

FitFlop wonder wellies! Can easily do 10k in them on rough paths etc without getting sore feet. Totally waterproof, obviously.

Letsrunabath · 31/08/2021 09:09

Dubarry, have had mine for 9 years they look rough now but are still going strong, worth every penny.
