Pointy hound owners please assemble!

I’m going to hopefully be adopted by an ex-racing greyhound on Saturday.
What pointers (no pun intended) would you give me? We are adopting from the Greyhound Trust in our home county and the dog will come with collars, lead, warm coat etc. We have bowls on order.
Beds? Raincoat? Socialising?
Anything else? Thank you.

@MotionActivatedDog. She’s called Tilly. She has settled in so well and she’s so calm and gentle. I already adore her. She is 4 1/2 and was racing in Ireland up to the end of June. She has taken to our home like a duck to water 😀

My DS has 2 smaller pointy noses (whippets rather than greyhounds) and he has started them on a raw meat diet, its a bit of a faff and more expensive, but they are thriving on it,

.@fourquenelles he is almost identical to my halfish Spanish Galgo and halfish Podenco, it would make sense.

Mine is a rescue. Both dogs are treated so badly here. (discarded after hunting season) They are becoming very 'trendy' suddenly though.

@BillieSpain Thank you. That mix makes sense. He was rescued from the streets by the wonderful rescue Galgos del Sol in Murcia who also rescue pods (and sheep and cats and boxers but that's another story!)

Know them well! Mine is from a similar place in Denia, down the road!

Our dogs have the same podenco/galgo mix ears.

Here he is! Bit of a bedfail, but he’d just had lunch and was snoozing it off.

@OrangeCinnamonCocktail do you know what your dog’s raving name is? I’ve spent a happy afternoon on FB chatting to people who have hounds from the same parentage- Droppy’s Cain. They all have little white bibs and socks!

Aulton Jetta...Droopy's Jet was his Dad. I can't get onto the database to check at mo relationship to Droopy's Cain.

@OrangeCinnamonCocktail he’s my dog’s half brother- or possibly full brother depending on who his mum is!

How funny 😄 apparently Droopys Jet did sire over 4000 though. I still can't get on the database thingy but his mam was something like Boreen !

I think Dd might actually be a Greyhound in disguise...she loves to make a 'nest' of blankets as she calls it on the sofa!

Mmm blankets he likes snuggling and digging in. Tried to settle him and he began Velcro the wonder dog !
