Dog in bedroom

We've sadly just lost our dog. We are due to pick up a puppy in a few weeks and are thinking about the sleeping arrangements. Our previous dog came to us at 1 year old, very nervous. The only way we could get him to settle was to sleep in our room.

Where does your dog sleep? Kitchen? Utility? Your own room? I'm not talking on our bed but in it's own bed in the corner. It will be a big dog 40kg ish when fully grown

Thanks

op, when we go on holiday we have live in dog sitters who are ok to adopt the arrangement, so they sleep in the spareroom with the doors open and dogs can either sleep with them or can roam.

Ddog sleeps with DD except when she's at her dads then she grudgingly sleeps with me. I can't imagine her wanting to sleep in an empty room

Ours sleeps in his own bed in the upstairs hall. I get up in the morning, take him for a wee walk about 6, then we go back to bed for an hour and he comes into the bedroom then and sleeps on his own cushion/ rug

Has own bed in our room but slowly migrates to our bed in the night. She's a diddy thing. DD is in my bed too. Like pp we like to sleep together as a pack.

One of DDs friends dog sat for me once, for a long weekend. Both dogs adore her and settled well, but evidently the younger one woke during the night a couple of times and went quietly bonkers with licks when she realised who was in the bed "OMG it's you, it wasn't a dream, you're here..." 🤣. Dog mad friend thought it was very sweet (fortunately!)
