LondonPupMum · 20/03/2021 16:08

@Brazilianut @grannycake thanks both!!

PugInTheHouse · 20/03/2021 16:12

Gorgeous photos Georgie and London!

We had a lovely walk today, absolutely brilliant on lead at his 'no game' cue when passing people or dogs, bikes going past in the road are not great as he reacts to them. We used the long lead as we went to a common which is absolutely huge with lots of places he could hide. He never even stretched the lead right out, if he was having a sniff around for too long and we wanted to move on he would come when called every time. Perfect at waiting before going over to dogs also and came back as soon as I wanted him too.

Only issue was that we were sat on a bench and I thought I had hold of the long lead to make it short but I didn't have hold properly, I didn't see a dog on a lead behind and he went towards it, he did come back when I called but the owner just behaved really strangely, dog was on a 3ish metre lead and she didn't call the dog closer to her but just gave us funny look, it was all a bit odd and I wasn't sure if she was annoyed or just confused as to why I was trying so hard to get him back.

He hurt his front leg whilst we were out, I am not sure what he did but he was playing on an uneven patch of grass and he seemed to jolt or fall a bit, he came over to me but was holding his leg up, he acted a bit strangely for a few seconds then tried to walk but couldn't put his leg down, I tried to pick him up bit he didn't want that, he limped around for a while then was fine. He walked all the way home and seems fine. I am not sure if I should be worried or not really.

@PugInTheHouse pugpup sounds like he's really settling beautifully! Keep an eye on his leg but hopefully all good

He's still bonkers here but we're enjoying him so much more now. The wait to adult dog won't be so long and arduous now hopefully!

PugInTheHouse · 20/03/2021 16:57

@LondonPupMum it doesn't seem to be bothering him at all, he's currently laying behind my shoulder on the sofa watching the cricket looking so sleepy. I think he has done way too much walking this last 2 days so will make sure he has a very restful day tomorrow.

It is so strange that I think it was maybe 3 or 4 weeks ago that I was in a state of despair and now it feels like it's all coming together. I will enjoy this next 2 months before adolescence hopefully Grin same here re him being bonkers, he's a complete lunatic but in a much more controlled manner than he was haha.

@PugInTheHouse how old is pugpup again? I'm think 22 weeks?

PugInTheHouse · 20/03/2021 17:11

@LondonPupMum I think about 25 or 26 weeks, he is 6 months next weekend I think (sure its the 27th but will have to check lol)

They are all growing up so fast!

Can’t believe we’re hitting 5 and 6 months already. Some of the problems of the early days are feeling like a distant memory (thankfully ha)

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 20/03/2021 17:25

GeorgiePup is 6 months on Friday! Cannot believe it! I remember people saying 6 months was the first milestone and feeling like it was forever away.

PugInTheHouse · 20/03/2021 17:29

Just checked at pugpup will be 6 months next Sunday. It seems so strange. I miss when I could pick him up and he fitted completely in my hands lol. He's getting to be a lump now.

Oh my gosh georgiepup and londonpup are gorgeous!

Frenchfancy · 20/03/2021 18:31

Fun and games chez nous today. Frenchpup got into the living room (not looking at you DD) and ate some chocolate left out from last night (my chocolate, my fault). 60g of good quality dark chocolate. Fortunately DD2 is back from vet school for the weekend, so she spent some time texting friends in the 3 and 4th years to get advice. Got a phone number for a toxicology hotline. Worked out her weight, % cocoa of the chocolate and how much she had eaten. They worked out that at 75g we would need to be concerned and that 150g would have been really dangerous. 60g just needed watching, but no water for a couple of hours (for some toxicology reason) they warned that she would be a bit hyper today (not helped by the fact the chocolate had caramel bits in it).

They were not kidding. She has been completely out of control all day. We've walked her, played with her, she has run around the garden like a mad thing (no point training her today she wasn't listening). She has finally zonked out.

It will not be happening again.

morethanacondiment · 20/03/2021 18:53

Oh, @Frenchfancy, thanks for the prompt, I will eat ALL the chocolate tonight Shock
You all inspired me to try a pig's ear tonight to distract Condipup whilst we had dinner... is twenty minutes a normal amount of time for it to last?
Basically, every question I ask is really "is he normal?"!

Sparkle79 · 20/03/2021 19:07

@Frenchfancy aw bless her! Easily done though. Glad she's okay.

Sparklepup is also 6 months next week - Saturday I think and like @Plantlover23 says some of the feelings of despair and "what have I done?" are becoming distant memories now. Can't imagine life without him now.

Sparkle79 · 20/03/2021 19:09

@morethanacondiment I like your thinking on the chocolate Grin I think he took about 30-40 min a to eat a pigs ear so yes sounds normal to me

tabulahrasa · 20/03/2021 19:16

Pigs ear... depends on the dog Grin

Current pup has had one on the go for a week and half Shock

My last boy basically ate them in one...

PugInTheHouse · 20/03/2021 19:28

@GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat and @Sparkle79 does that mean we get to have many large drinks next weekend to celebrate their half year birthdays GrinWine

C4itl · 20/03/2021 19:29

C4pup celebrated his half birthday today with a nice wee on the sofa Hmm any advice on how to get the smell out? It’s a velvet sofa so I’m hesitant to put anything strong on it

Plantlover23 · 20/03/2021 19:40

@C4itl Plantpup spoiled me to the same yesterday!

Do you have the febreeze fabric spray? That works wonders for any accident smells here

C4itl · 20/03/2021 19:43

@Plantlover23 I think I have some, I’ll give that a try!

PugInTheHouse · 20/03/2021 20:23

@C4itl oh noooo! I hope that is not how they all celebrate it next weekend Shock

In one? Good grief! Grin I was hoping to get a couple of days out of this, but obviously not. Happy half birthday to all these pups, but especially to you lot who are making it sound fine (except for the birthday weesConfused)
tabulahrasa · 20/03/2021 21:54

“In one? Good grief! grin I was hoping to get a couple of days out of this, but obviously not.”

Oh you might - he’s the only dog I’ve ever seen just go, crunch crunch crunch... mmm nice biscuit Confused lol

Current one is a five month medium sized dog, and he has a good chew at it most days and it’s still kicking about.

BumDiggyDiggyDiggyBumDiggyBum · 21/03/2021 00:53

I don’t know if I can do this.

Bumpup is the sweetest most loving wee pup in the world. But night times are absolutely horrible. I’ve barely had a wink of sleep since she got here, it’s only night 4 but I’m almost at breaking point.

I’ve tried putting her in the crate and closing the door, getting up a few times to take her out. She squeals like she’s being tortured. I’ve tried leaving the crate door open and letting her come in and out at her own free will. She squealed again. I’ve let her just lay in bed and have free run downstairs, again she squeals.

She just can’t be alone and I can’t cope with it. I’m lying here in tears because I’m so bloody tired.

I’m starting to resent her. If I’d know this was what it was like I’d never have gotten her. I’ve never had a pup like this, ever. Dd loves her, but she doesn’t have to deal with this torture every night, I genuinely don’t think I can cope.

I don’t know what to do
