Can I join? we've 2 6 month old bulldogs. Struggling with their pulling on walks. trying to get them to walk nicely.

Plantlover23 · 03/03/2021 19:29

Thank you for starting this next thread up @PugInTheHouse!

Plantpup is doing well at daycare, he always says lovely things about her at pickup which is reassuring to hear! (Apart from the towel thing but we’re working on it...)

It’s still just sleeps at home that are slightly doing my head in. Some days in the evening she’ll chill nicely with me whilst I potter in the kitchen then go down for a nap around 7ish, last toilet at about half 9 then sleep for the night. Currently she is digging like crazy at the tray of her crate...we’ve been outside 3 times to see if she needs to go - nothing. She’s had food and water, so this remains a mystery to me! Seems to be one day in a blue moon she’ll suddenly behave like this and I can’t for the life of me figure out why

PugInTheHouse · 03/03/2021 19:45

@C4itl that I would never let him lick my face, I had not really thought that one through with a pug Blush

@Frenchfancy @imovethestarsforno1 yep pugpup loves a bit of cat poo, I had to move the cats litter try into another room in the end, at first he didn't go near it but then realised he could get into the tray (its a hooded one)

@Plantlover23 it does seem that they suddenly decide that they don't like or don't want to do something that they have been fine with the whole time. Pugpup now hates the car, he was fine at first.

Hi @GooodMythicalMorning @WaitingForEgg and anyone else new to the thread. If you don't already know the rules of the group, you have to post a picture of your pup as tax for being on here Grin

These are my girls. I have a 3 yr old boy too.

@GooodMythicalMorning they are lovely! How on earth do you cope with 2 pups

OP posts:
GooodMythicalMorning · 03/03/2021 20:16

Luckily I work evenings and dh day time and the kids are bigger so can help when they can but I can spend most of my day with them training them. Walking is my problem though as they don't walk they run/pull! Good thing they're cute!

EmzBPupMum · 03/03/2021 20:33

Apologies: just realised I never paid my tax when I started on this thread last month. This is my boy xx

Hi people we have a 7 month sproodle (expensive crossbreed) we are still working on her heel work. She is canny when she doesn't desperately want to be somewhere but when we are walking to the beach she is a nightmare. She is however a dream off lead as where we live it is a country park so has been off lead since day 1. Cannot win them all!

Just finished teaching her to play dead and almost mastered covering her eyes as she learns so quickly but we can only leave her for an hour or so in her cage before I panick and head home. She won't stay downstairs alone without stalking me so her cage is the only option. (Sleeps in it in our room on a night)

My tax as a newbie of a photo attached (I think)

@EmzBPupMum that's so funny, the other day pugpup put his face in my empty yoghurt pot and his whole head was covered. So cute.

@Qwertyyui she's gorgeous. Sounds like she is doing really well.

Qwertyyui · 03/03/2021 21:36

@PugInTheHouse she is doing well but think that is more who she is and we were really lucky! She is a little sod for 'finding' my hat or slippers and bringing them to me to let me know she COULD have chewed them but didn't! Ha

familychallenge · 03/03/2021 22:01

Placemarking on new thread. Am at 6 months and so recognise many of the challenges of others- seem to move forward in one way and back in others! It does feel a bit easier than the early days but some things are tougher as he gets more independent. Picture of him guarding his new favourite toy while he sleeps

@Qwertyyui same crossbreed as Plantpup Smile she’s gorgeous!

C4itl · 04/03/2021 08:47

Over the past few weeks we've really cracked toilet training, I think I posted our routine in the last thread but pup has been holding his bladder from 10-7:30/45 every night. The past two days I've came downstairs in the morning at the usual time and he's already had an accident in the kitchen.

I know how to resolve this, I'll just have to go back to getting up with him at around 6am to let him out and then putting him back to bed, I was just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem? He's coming up to 6 months old so I'm assuming it's adolescence kicking in...

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 04/03/2021 08:57

Awwww! Loving all the puppy pictures. This is Mabel - she’s a 16 week old incontinent velociraptor.

PugInTheHouse · 04/03/2021 08:59

@C4itl this is my worry, we have had a brilliant few days with pugpup (22 weeks which is weirdly the same time as a few others said toilet training was suddenly sorted) but I am thinking another month and he'll become a pain in the arse teenager and ruin it all.

The weird thing is I don't think there is any way to stop the weeing first thing, it seems to make no difference whether last wee is 8pm or 11pm, he still wakes up at about 615 now, although I think its because he needs a poo not a wee, he went from 530pm till 615am without one last night. He drinks water up till about 8/830pm as that is when he goes to sleep. He does usually wee about 1030 though, last night was about 945 as we were shattered. Still up at the same time. Its fine as we need to get up by 7ish anyway (although would be nicer if he slept till then) but he seems desperate for a poo.

@LorelaiVictoriaGilmore you must forgive everything with that gorgeous face though!

@PugInTheHouse Unfortunately yes!

ashmts · 04/03/2021 09:14

@C4itl our girl's been toilet trained for a couple of months, we've never had an accident overnight in her crate, and the other weekend I got up in the morning and she'd weed in it. All over her bed. No idea what happened, can only assume we left her just a bit too long, although it wasn't any longer than the night before. Hasn't happened since though.

Had a bit of an issue last night. We've had a rug under the crate since she came home, just to protect the wooden floor from getting scraped. We were spring cleaning yesterday so decided to throw the rug out cos she had a few accidents on it as a tiny puppy and it's just past its best. Didn't anticipate bedtime rolling round and her refusing to get in the crate! It must have all smelt different to her. DP was out in the garden hacking off a bit of the rug to put back under the crate at 11pm Grin fortunately after that she went to bed and slept all night but it was a tense moment.

Hello

Got our puppy 2 days ago, he is a 8 week old Staffy boy called Rubble and our first puppy

Not our first dog, we have had loads of dogs over the years, including a few staffies. Always rescues but when our last staffy died in 2017 we decided to wait as our boys were only 1 and 3 years old and I'm not a huge fan on young children and dogs.

Once the boys were getting older we decided to start looking .
After a long wait , we wanted a dog from a show breeder but because they don't have litters often we have had to wait over a year we finally too this gorgeous guy home on Tuesday and it's love at first sight.

Thought I'd join this thread as expected to need the support Confused

So far so good, no crying in his cage at night in the kitchen he settled both night at 10am

First night I checked and let him for toilet at 4am then back to his bed

Today I got up at 5.45 and took him to toilet and just left him up as I get up pretty much everyday at 6am anyway

He seems to of settled great only thing is a bit of runny poops but assuming that's maybe normal with stress of leaving his litter mates.
