NoRoomInBed · 08/03/2020 10:08

New neighbours moved in on thursday at the side of us. Havent seen them but seen their dog in a cage through the window. Now dog has been crying and howling since friday morning constantly I can see hes still in the cage. Cant see any water or food. Theres no one home. A different neighbor tried knocking last night and this morning. Its loud enough to be heard a few houses up. Poor thing sounds so frightened.

What can I do If anything? Should I do something?

Are the RSPCA coming back tomorrow?

Medievalist · 08/03/2020 22:00

Could you try local police?

To be honest, I think I'd be breaking in and take the consequences.

Branleuse · 08/03/2020 22:13

poor dog. Is he still crying?

Branleuse · 08/03/2020 22:14

i think maybe call the police out

Windyatthebeach · 08/03/2020 22:17

Fb pics of the house imo...
Shame them.

champagneandfromage50 · 08/03/2020 22:17

oh god that is awful. So it sounds like the poor dog has been left locked in the cage for over 48hrs with no food or water... i dont have any words as that is so upsetting...

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 08/03/2020 22:19

Oh that poor baby!! I’d call the police. The thing must be starving!!

stophuggingme · 08/03/2020 22:20

Call the police
If that dog had no water for that amount of time it could die

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 08/03/2020 22:21

If it’s been there’s since Thursday that’s 3 days. 4 by the time officer comes back tomorrow!

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 08/03/2020 22:27

So it’s been there at least three days and the SSPCA are happy to leave it another day. Jesus. They’re as bad as the RSPCA.

ChickLitLover · 08/03/2020 22:27

Poor dog. I agree with the other posters who are saying either call RSPCA again or the Police. I think the fact that you don’t know for certain how long since this dog has had food or water along with the dog now being quiet is very concerning and enough grounds to not wait for the RSPCA tomorrow.

NoRoomInBed · 08/03/2020 23:28

It's gone quiet as the dog has disappeared. Will prop know more tomorrow as theres a rumor on who's moving in and turns out I know them from 10 years ago. They dont know i live here though. God it's like a drama

What do you mean op? Is there someone in the house? Have they let the dog out?

NoRoomInBed · 08/03/2020 23:29

Sorry a bit of dripfeed but one of the other neighbours put a post on facebook about it all. So must've been seen.

OP posts:
NoRoomInBed · 08/03/2020 23:30

No one in house all lights off. Cage is gone.

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 08/03/2020 23:33

Sounds like the new resident saw or found out about the notice and came and took the dog. Christ knows where they’ve taken it to though. Sad

Drivemybluecar · 09/03/2020 07:04

Who does that kind of thing. I have three dogs next door to me. One is in a cage all day and the other two stuck in one room. They howl all day. Told the owner. They didn’t care.

userxx · 09/03/2020 07:52

You need to give the name of the owners to the rspca so they can track the dog down and hopefully remove it from the bastards of so called owners.

NoRoomInBed · 09/03/2020 08:07

Yeah hoping to catch the officer if she comes round again today.

So the other nieghbours that put a post on facebook has had a message off of the dog owners and they've said that they put the dog in the house because shes in heat and want to separate their dogs. The woman is 30 weeks pregnant. She says shes been in to feed the dog and let her out. Shes taken dog to friends house now. Hopefully its temporary.

Clymene · 09/03/2020 09:50

Their solution to having a dog in heat is to leave her on her own in a crate for 2 days? HmmHmmAngry

Medievalist · 09/03/2020 10:23

This is why I HATE dog cages - and yes, a crate is a cage. They encourage cruel and irresponsible behaviour from owners. Can't be arsed to train a dog but don't want it being a nuisance? Stick it in a cage. Want a dog but work full time? Stick it in a cage. And so on. I know being locked in a house or room is not great - but a cage? Come on. It's barbaric.

And yes, I know there are plenty responsible cage users and lots of dogs like a safe place (one of ours has a den behind the sofa). But I'm sure they could manage without - people used to - and then they wouldn't become instruments of torture.

TheReluctantCountess · 09/03/2020 11:23

I really dislike cages too.

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 09/03/2020 12:15

So she’s got an unneutered Male and an unspayed female? Red flag number 1.

She has nowhere appropriate to contain her female during heat. So where has she been separating them until now? Hmm red flag number 2.

Her method of separating is to crate the female in an empty house for days on end only popping in to feed her. Red flag number 3.

This woman is thick as champ and shouldn’t own a goldfish let alone two dogs.

Great that she’s also bringing a newborn into this shitshow.

ChickLitLover · 09/03/2020 12:35

Poor, poor dog. And nasty bastard owner. I’d report her again for that, hopefully SSPCA will still be coming round today as they won’t have this update and you can let them know. If not I’d phone again and report. Bloody heartbreaking.
