Please don't say "sorry" when you don't mean it at all, in any way.
I understand and share many of the criticisms about so called "designer dogs". The man who bred the first labradoodles did so in an attempt to breed an assistance dog that didn't shed/was hypoallergenic. There's no such dog, end of discussion.
I have a labradoodle who is almost 12, she was bred by an excellent breeder who isn't out to make her fortune but loves the breed. A more obedient, affectionate all round good family dog you won't find. She's needed more training than any other dog I shared my life with. That's the case for many of the poodle crosses. You don't necessarily get the best of both breeds that's for sure. You also don't know which breed characteristic will dominate.
They aren't mongrels, mongrels are dogs with unknown history, where many breeds/other mongrels come together. It's hard to find those lovely cross breeds these days - any dog shelter is likely to be full of staffordshire/bull breed crosses, old German shepherd dogs and sadly dogs who may have been imported by people who met them on holiday in India, Spain anywhere in Europe and paid lots of cash to bring them home, only to find they're not suited to living in houses with families.
The Big Problem as I see it, is the myths about poodle crosses being good for people with allergies, easy to train, good with children etc etc. Also, being bought as First Dogs by folks with good hearts but little experience of dogs, never mind poodle crosses.
