What type of dog do you think this is?

We were told our 12 week old puppy Ozzy was a pomapoo (Pomeranian cross with miniature poodle) but now we aren't so sure. Everyone says he looks a border collie but he's too small to be that. The vet says that he doesn't look like a Pomeranian or a poodle. We've looked at other photos of pomapoos and some do look similar to him. We're planning on doing a dog DNA test in the near future. I'd be interested to know what people think
Thanks

He's gorgeous! Congratulations on him. I'd say definitely spaniel in there - either cavalier or papillon?

Do his ears not look too short for a cav?

He's a cross with a cavalier King Charles , my mother bred ckc. He's lovely either way

Well he looks like a tiny sprollie... so I’d assume cav x JRT too.

Thing is, it’s even harder to tell with puppies because they don’t necessarily look the same as adults anyway.

Owners of expensive uncommon breeds do not let them mate indiscriminately, so no poms. He’ll be a mix of popular types, like jack Russell and collies and mongrels.
Our pup looks nothing like the mix his mum’s owners said he was so we’re just waiting to see what he grows into.

He's lovely. I definitely see JRT in there.

Be wary of DNA tests. I used to be very involved with a foreign rescue and a lot of people who adopted our dogs had them tested. They were always common, popular breeds listed, nothing Romanian, which I found slightly suspicious and it put me off having mine tested.

I have a pom/jr cross. He was an oops when the jr climbed a six foot fence to get to the pom mum.

After seeing his tail, I'm revising to cckc/jr which is a weird but cute cross!

Is his fur on his back soft or wirey/coarse?

King charles and jack russell. He/she is so so cute!

Jack Russel x King Charles is my guess. I don't see any poodle in him with a coat that flat.

I wouldn’t bother with a DNA test .. one of the dogs we see regularly is a 6 month old Greek rescue. He’s very sweet-natured but was barely growing (put on less than a kilo between 4 and 6 months). His owners wanted to have an idea of what his eventual adult size should be so had a DNA test done. The results were (allegedly) 25% chihuahua, 12.5% Pekingese, 12.5% welsh corgi, 12.5% German shepherd, 12.5% border collie and the rest was ‘unknown mix’ - all of which seems rather unlikely for a puppy whose mother was picked up as a pregnant stray on the streets of Corfu Hmm

He looks just like my JR did as a pup. Funny enough the vet thought he was a border collie too. He is on the small side for a JR now that he is grown.

He's gorgeous. Definitely looks like jack Russell is in there but no idea the other(s)

My dog is a cross and if i didn't know what he was I'd want to know for no other reason than curiosity. He's not a 'designer' cross but I'd still want to know.

Sincere apologies for previous post ... somethingpoo too often is a bad sign. Unfortunately, as I should have realised, of course rescues are liable to end up with many such pups especially the ones who don't get the poodle coat type.

He does look a lot like a Charlie now, but my guess is that's an artefact of his age - they have short puppyish muzzles, I'm guessing yours will grow a longer snout and lose that look. I'd guess something like border collie/jrt cross.

He's gorgeous, anyway!

We've sent away the swabs for his DNA test but it'll take 3 weeks. We'd just like to know for possible health conditions, we love him no matter what he is

Also if it turns out he has jack Russell in him that would explain the cheekiness
