Emergency vet? Or monitor overnight

I often over worry and have taken my dog to the emergency vets a couple of times but she seems unwell and I don't know what to do.

She has been sick tonight and off her food since this afternoon (usual for her she's picky but she was even reluctant to eat a treat) she looks miserable and a bit wobbly earlier then she went and done crazy zoomies. Now she's curled up on the sofa but not herself.

My husband said to monitor her and see how she is tomorrow but I am worried 😞 she is a 2 year old cavalier

Running around might mean she’s in pain.

Is she at least drinking water?

arghhouch · 29/04/2018 20:43

Sorry meant to add she ate a face wipe last night but passed it out this morning - that's important information! Could that have just given her an upset stomach maybe? Thanks

As normal.

Is the wipe out the other end?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 29/04/2018 20:44

Poo normal?

FlamingGoat · 29/04/2018 20:44

I would call the vet. I have Cavaliers and there are a few things they can suffer from. The wobbling would worry me to be honest.

BabiesOneSleepNone · 29/04/2018 20:45

I’d give the emergency vets a call. Better safe than sorry.

wormery · 29/04/2018 20:46

I would call the vet for advice and definitely mention the facewipe. Did she poo out the whole thing.Hope she feels better soon.

Tinkobell · 29/04/2018 20:48

I'm no vet but if she's drinking AND peeing hopefully kidneys are working ok. Drinking copious amounts and NOT peeing / sides swelling is not good.
Is she continuously wretching?
Any diarrhoea?
What's the dogs breathing pattern like?
Is the dog mobile?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 29/04/2018 20:49

Face wipe is a worry.

mrsdoglover · 29/04/2018 20:49

As PP said she might be in pain about something. If she's not sick again I would just monitor overnight see if she has anything to eat in the morning and if not go to the vets.
Hope she's okay!

user1486076969 · 29/04/2018 20:50

Wait until the morning

EmmaC78 · 29/04/2018 20:51

I would also monitor overnight.

arghhouch · 29/04/2018 20:52

She is mobile. She has only been sick once. She's pretty lethargic but can be when she's overtired. No diarrhoea.

She pooed out the whole wipe today on a big walk.

OP posts:
arghhouch · 29/04/2018 20:53

No wrenching at all. She was sick in her crate while having a nap after the walk.

OP posts:
arghhouch · 29/04/2018 20:53

Breathing also fine nothing different, no panting.

OP posts:
arghhouch · 29/04/2018 20:54

I will withhold food tonight and see how she goes and call the emergency vet if anything changesSad

OP posts:
arghhouch · 29/04/2018 20:55

Thanks everyone x

We realised ddog had eaten a flip flop one Fri night, monitored all week end and she was fine.
Ddogs are sent to try us. ...

Can you look at what chemicals are in the face wipe and google them to see if they are harmful if ingested? It might be her tummy/intestines are inflamed by the chemicals and need time to settle down or even treatment.

Tinkobell · 29/04/2018 21:22

Hi - if it were me, check on her last thing. Then set an alarm for around 3am for a quick look in. See how much water is gone from the bowl (Alarm bells kidneys if bone dry) see if she needs a pee outside, check for wretching, breathing. See if she responds to her name. If her sides are swollen and she has laboured breathing I'd get her to vet a&e sharpish.
Otherwise if it's a holding situation, hang on to the morning. The vet does need to know about the wet wipe being eaten.
Best of luck,
Xxxx

Dogs were invented by the vets to make them money.

WetsTheVet · 29/04/2018 21:28

Nobody forced you to buy one Chardonnay

WetsTheVet · 29/04/2018 21:29

As a vet I would advise monitor overnight and take to vet in the morning without any breakfast incase there's a suspected foreign body.
