So I stopped two teenagers who were beating their dog...

Outside my house. Country road, they probably didn't think I could see them. The dog wanted to sniff in the hedge, one girl whacked her- not just once, but absolutely viciously battered the poor dog. They walked on, it happened three times that I saw :(
Turns out they are neighbours, so suspect their mother will be round :(
Don't know what else I could have done, I couldn't just let it happen :(

Aw, poor dog! Perhaps they will change pehaps not. But good on you for stepping in!
If their mom comes around tell her to stop beating her kids! They learned this somewhere...

PhelanThePain · 21/02/2018 18:42

do you know their address? Report them to the police. Nasty wee fucks.

PaddyF0dder · 21/02/2018 18:42

Call the cops?

ShortandAnnoying · 21/02/2018 18:44

If their Mum comes round give her a piece of your mind and tell her she's lucky you didn't call the RSPCA.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 21/02/2018 18:47

If you know who they are / where they live, I'd be calling the RSPCA and police as they've committed animal cruelty offences.

If they're willing to do that in public, what are they willing to do in private?

Bubble2bubble · 21/02/2018 18:50

I suspect nothing changes for the dog. Dd saw what happened and was really upset so partly I wanted her to see that it's OK to challenge that kind of behaviour. It's not a police or RSPCA matter - dog is fed, has shelter and is occasionally walked.

I would still report them to the RSPCA op. Maybe they will have to investigate and that might frighten them a bit. I would have done the same and I would also have a few choice words for their mother should she come round!

PhelanThePain · 21/02/2018 18:54

It's not a police or RSPCA matter

Erm, they viciously battered an animal. It’s a police matter. Of course it is!!

PhelanThePain · 21/02/2018 18:54

What does RSPCA stand for?

BustersBloodVessel · 21/02/2018 18:56

Please report them. No poor dog should suffer beatings

Rattymama · 21/02/2018 19:04

Did you film it?

Bubble2bubble · 21/02/2018 19:14

Didn't film it, no..

OP posts:
BatFacedGirl · 21/02/2018 19:27

Of course it's a bloody police matter! Or RSPCA

OliviaBenson · 21/02/2018 19:27

Please report them, poor dog :-(

Adviceplease360 · 21/02/2018 19:29

Call the RSPCA, poor dog

JaneEyre70 · 21/02/2018 19:31

You have to report it, to the RSPCA. That dog has no voice, and is being mistreated.

gussyfinknottle · 21/02/2018 19:31

Cruelty to animals is cruelty to animals.

AlwaysPondering · 21/02/2018 19:38

Call RSPCA!

caffeinequick · 21/02/2018 19:45

Well done for stepping in.

mrsjoyfulprizeforraffiawork · 21/02/2018 19:45

If you see it happen again, please try to film it - RSPCA more likely to help then.

FabbyChix · 21/02/2018 23:03

I’d have removed the dog from them. No chance I’d ever let someone get away with hitting a dog. I’d phone police and anyone else that could help. I’d also tell the mother I was reporting to

Cauliflowersqueeze · 21/02/2018 23:10

If you saw a child being viciously battered would you not report it? Why should a defenceless animal with no way of speaking up be left to fend for itself.

toomanyweeds · 22/02/2018 06:28

Report it to the RSPCA, or the dog warden. The don't just deal with neglect - violence is still cruelty!

toomanyweeds · 22/02/2018 06:29

And, yes, filming it would be ideal (if you can do so safely) but just because it's not on tape doesn't mean it's not worth reporting.

ShortandAnnoying · 22/02/2018 07:57

The RSPCA do take beating a dog seriously. On a recent episode of the dog rescuers someone had filmed a neighbour beating his dog and they took the dog and prosecuted the man. I know you didn't film it but if you are concerned they will keep doing this you can still report it.
