So I stopped two teenagers who were beating their dog...

Outside my house. Country road, they probably didn't think I could see them. The dog wanted to sniff in the hedge, one girl whacked her- not just once, but absolutely viciously battered the poor dog. They walked on, it happened three times that I saw :(
Turns out they are neighbours, so suspect their mother will be round :(
Don't know what else I could have done, I couldn't just let it happen :(

My dog was kicked in the park and the police took it very seriously. They came round to speak to me and said if I wanted that they would go and speak to the twat bloke.

How can you think it’s not a police matter? Confused

mrssunshinexxx · 22/02/2018 08:04

Call the rspca or police and make it their matter that is heartbreaking little witches

gussyfinknottle · 22/02/2018 09:32

Violence against animals can move on to violence against humans (if they are not already there). It's a red flag and the police need to know about it. RSPCA will obviously need to intervene.

Aprilshowerswontbelong · 22/02/2018 09:35

Police matter.

SparklyMagpie · 22/02/2018 09:37

So what was the point then if you're going to do fuck all about reporting it? You know it's going to continue

gamerchick · 22/02/2018 09:41

OP why don’t you ring your local police station and ask for their advice?

There’s no point in posting here if you’re not intending on doing anything because you’ll be roasted alive.

Help that animal, be its voice.

Ok, wasn't quite prepared for all the aggression.........I didn't do fuck all. I ran after them, spoke to them, found out who they were and will speak to the parents who may or may not be aware. However, I was posting to find out what the general opinion was, if it was a reportable matter, or perhaps if anyone had experienced similar.

Well to be fair you actually said It's not a police or RSPCA matter - dog is fed, has shelter and is occasionally walked which doesn’t really sound like you were trying to find out what the general opinion was or if it was a reportable matter Hmm

missyB1 · 22/02/2018 13:48

Please please report this, God knows what is going on at home for this poor dog Sad

Lonecatwithkitten · 22/02/2018 14:10

There is a strong link between children/teenagers being violent towards pets and them experiencing violence at home. This is emphasised to veterinary professionals to report what they say not just to protect the pets, but also the children.

SparklyMagpie · 22/02/2018 14:57

I wasn't being aggressive just because I said " fuck all " Hmm

You said you didn't feel it was a police or RSPCA matter, so what is the point if you're not going to report it? The majority have said it is worth reporting

So what will you do now?

saggynappy · 22/02/2018 20:29

The RSPCA will go and check the dog. I phoned for the same thing once and they couldn’t do anything without proof but they went round anyway. Did the mum come round?
