Tasty dry dog food

Hi, Could you reccomend a dry dog food for a fussy dog? DD (10 months) is not a big eater and we have tried a few: pets at home own brand, Akela, Eden, Tails and she has been eating Guru for the last few months, but seems to have gone off it. We mix in a bit of wet dog food, egg, cooked carrot or sweet potato, and that helps encourage her, but I think it is time to try something new.
I have looked at quality ratings on All About Dog food, but am interested in tastiness, for a fussy dog.
I don't want to feed raw....

Mine was always fussy with dry so whilst he would eat it at first he then stopped later on. Coupled with stomach issues on dry we swooped to wet (same manufacturer and same ingredients) and he gobbles it down now and acts like we haven't fed him as he loves it so much.

You might want to look at Markus Mühle Black Angus. I never found it in the shops but could order online easily. They do a junior variety too.

Thank you. Although that she eats is obviously the most important thing, I have heard wet dog food gives them sloppier poos, that are harder to pick up. Did you find this way the case?

Playing devils advocate but - she won't starve herself. Feed one you know that's good for her and stick to it. She will eat if she is hungry. If you keep changing - adding other titbits that is what she will expect. And of course she will want something different.

Mine had sloppier poos on kibble. I think it was just too hard for him to digest. When we moved from millieswolfheart kibble to their wet food his poos firmed up and are nice and solid now so it wasn't the ingredient but just that kibble was too hard for him.

The added bonus was that he also stopped being fussy and actively jumps and circles about when he is about to get fed which he never did with kibble.

Millieswolfheart wet food we use is 70% meat or fish with veg so it isn't packed out with any fillers so essentially just like their kibble but wet. I think mine was also fussy because they tend to 'eat' with their nose and wet food is so much smellier than kibble so it's more tasty. I also get 4 different flavours and rotate them and he loves that.

Royal Canin breed dry dog food. Both our dogs love this.

My dog eats likes Harringtons dry food, but I also feed her Chappie which seems fine and no issues with sloppy poos!

Try Tails.com. They prepare the food according to your dog's age, breed, health etc and they send a new pack when necessary. It's absolutely excellent. Before finding them, I was like you, chopping and changing, but this service is tailor made at a reasonable cost. You can delay packs or have them sooner if you need to. They also do wet food etc

And they offer a free trial.

Thanks for the thoughts. Although she shouldn't starve herself, when we previously tried to go hardball and only feed kibble, she ate nothing for 24hours. Basically, we cracked first - there's only so long I can cope with her not eating for. I admit to bring soft .
I will have a look at the wet food (MWH) option.
So basically kibble probably isn't that attractive?
DDog is soooo much more interested in play, people etc than food, and I guess she is still growing.

We have tried Tails, a couple of different recipes. I think they're marketing is great. I am less keen on their food.

Mine has Millie’s Wolfheart kibble and Nature’s menu pouches for tea but he eats the kibble on its own for breakfast with no issues . The Natures menu pouches also score fairly well on the dog food site and my dogs poo is fine .

Have you tried Lily's Kitchen? God knows my dog isn't fussy at all, but he absolutely loves it - eats it on its own and he'll chase a kong around to get the pellets out.

Purizon from Zooplus is good

Our picky eater here gets Millies mixed with a little water and a spoonful of Forthglade and - so far - eats it all up quickly and without fuss rather than spitting most of it out and leaving the rest (as he used to).

There is no tasty dry food according to my JRT.

That's my concern JoyStirs. I have bought Platinum Puppy food. It's semi-moist apparently. Will update when Ddog has tried it.

Our dog started to refuse Wainwrights (what he was fed at Dog's Trust) so we moved to Lily's Kitchen wet with some Pooch and Mutt dry food mixed in. He gobbles it down.

We gave up on kibble as got tired of buying it only for it to go to waste. Our JRT has a mix of meaty raw bones (once weekly), Pedigree Vital in gravy, the odd serving of scrambled egg (made without any fat or salt), raw chicken wings, left over cooked meat, raw minced beef.

Another recommendation for Millies Wolfheart from our Labrador (but to be fair he eats most things). It even smells nice (haven't went as far as tasting it though!)

Orijen six fish, i have the fussiest eater ever and she loves this, even my cats try to steal it!

Our dog is on AVA from pets at home, I mix it with warm water so it has like a gravy with it. She enjoys it. It scores 4.2 out of 5 on AADF which I thought was quite good given its price point.

We were on Millies but dog didn't seem to love it.

what kind of dog do you have, out of interest? We have an ESS who is very fussy unless you sneakily make dinner time into a game of hunting/trick training...just thinking if it's a high drive breed they may find standing and eating at a bowl boring. Like a toddler would rather play than eat it's lunch.
We try carrot/egg/mashed potatoes on top and everything!

joy same here. My dog wouldn’t eat for days if it was a kibble she didn’t like and I tried a lot! Markus Muhle, Millie’s Wolfheart. All the good quality ones.
She’s on raw now and has never refused a meal- except the days I offer fish, she hates fish.
