Anyone use this flea treatment on their dog? Any positive or horror stories welcome. It's a new one for me!

Google can point you in the direction of scientific sources is what I meant

My vet just suggested we swap to this. 12 year old golden retriever, used advocate all her life with no issues, bit worried now. Does anyone else have any recent experience, good or bad? Mine also eats dog, cat, fox and any other poo going.

After a tick-ridden holiday I changed the dog’s routine to 1 x Bravecto every 3 months and 1 x Milprazon monthly. Same cost with the vet as Advocate. Have had no issues though the Bravecto tablet is huge and it may be chewable in theory but the dog hasn’t read that memo. In 4 years I’ve got better at administering!

They’re all much of a muchness I think?

the Google horror stories are just that - risks with everything, and there is a body of canine owners akin to antivaxxers for kids.

people relying on worm counts better hope their dog doesn’t catch proper lungworm (ie French heart worm) as it can quickly be fatal. Fox lungworm is absolutely endemic here in SE England but not usually serious in a healthy animal and easily eradicated. I do find it takes hold if I am even 2 weeks late with the Nexgard as we have foxes absolutely everywhere here, and a shit ton of the intermediary hosts, slugs and snails.

Wouldn't ever use it again

I used nexguard on my Gsd who passed in 2019 (cancer) for the last year of his life no problems, at that point I loved it, it worked great

We used it with my baby boy who we got summer of 2020 he was put down at 18 months due to very sudden change in behaviour and becoming dangerous, the vet who we had moved to only 1 month before he was put down said it was likely due to a seizure we hadn't noticed, we had still had another treatment in the packet from previous vets and had used it, sadly the vet said it was in his best interest to pts

There are horror stories of nexguard and many others who have used it with no issue I think it could just be bad luck some are affected as badly as they are however I will never willing use it or any other isoxazoline class flea treatment again

And my ddog eats shedloads of fox poo in the garden so he has nexguard very consistently!!
