I have to ring them about a neighbour it's awful what I see, but people are telling me they won't do anything....
There's 3 of them and they get separated they look under weight and always outside the puppy was out crying in the rain all morning.
I'm getting so anxious all the time and wound up it's fuckin awful and I can't even sit in my house and relax because one of them just constantly cries they have no toys or bones and water and are sat in their own shit
Any advice appreciated

Oh my god!

I'd advise to just call the RSPCA and perhaps tomorrow call around local vets and see if they have had the animals registered with them under the address? The vets may also be able to give you advice as to what else you can do to help the poor little mites!!

taraer · 05/06/2017 22:18

They've had more dogs and only lived here a year.. were not on same street but I can see the garden from mine if you get me.
From what I've heard they had mites and one died suddenly then another not long after I don't agree with it but I seem to be the only one annoyed

That sounds horrible!

Do you think others have noticed but are ignoring it? Or just not even bothered?!

I'd definitely call the RSPCA and see if you can get any neighbours/friends on board or at least make them aware of the situation to help find a solution with you?

Shambolical1 · 06/06/2017 09:47

Vets won't be able to tell you anything. Data protection and all that. If the dogs have no water or shelter the RSPCA should come out. 'Should' being the operative word; tell them what you're seeing (and hearing) but concentrate on their body condition and the lack of water and shelter. It's not against the law to keep dogs outside but they must have the basics of care. If the RSPCA are reluctant try your local dog warden (usually via the local authority).

taraer · 06/06/2017 09:51

So if they are outside what should they have ?
I can assure you there's no kennels the grass is fenced off and never have water or toys and there out in all weather

SparklingRaspberry · 06/06/2017 15:37

If they're kept outside they should have shelter, food and water. Please call them!

Shambolical1 · 06/06/2017 16:18

The animal welfare act says there is a duty of care towards animals:

(a)its need for a suitable environment,
(b)its need for a suitable diet,
(c)its need to be able to exhibit normal behaviour patterns,
(d)any need it has to be housed with, or apart from, other animals, and
(e)its need to be protected from pain, suffering, injury and disease.

So, yes they should have proper food, 24hrs access to water, they should have shelter from wet, cold and heat; they should have a clean, safe environment and veterinary care. If they are upset by being kept apart (you said they were separated) that needs to be addressed too.

GanawMe · 06/06/2017 20:52

I reported dogs like this in a similar situation recently.. malnourished, could see all their bones, barking day and night, never allowed in the house or ever walked. Ever. Two dogs, ended up having puppies Angry. I reported them, one officer went round, owner wasn't in and they never went back Angry.

Oh and they fought, one dog had its ear pulled off and one had an infection in its face and it ballooned to double the size. All through fighting. They all disappeared after the rspca made that one call and I have no idea where they are Sad.

I would never trust them again.

BlueKarou · 06/06/2017 20:57

Can you take pictures? In case evidence is needed? But yes - report. I'm not usually a champion of the RSPCA, but think they're your best bet in this sort of a situation.

I would definitely not recommend confronting the neighbours as that could be dangerous, nor would I recommend any course of action resulting in the dogs disappearing from the garden as that would certainly be illegal.

taraer · 06/06/2017 22:03

I have been taking pictures and videos which isn't right I know but it's awful we could smell the poo the other day ! Little dog is out there now and it's Gail force wind....
There is always someone in and I might say come and loom from my house first some people don't deserve pets

Even if the RSPCA don't respond initially, keep trying. Keep trying until someone listens. Get advice from different places but please don't give up on these poor dogs. Sometimes the RSPCA are overwhelmed so can only respond to the really dire cases, but you can make a difference by recording what's happening. The RSPCA only ever get a snapshot from their brief visit and it's not always indicative of neglect, unfortunately. People can be sneaky and ready for a visit...

Wolfiefan · 06/06/2017 22:17

Poor bloody dogs. Do report. They should have food, water and shelter. Minimum.

taraer · 06/06/2017 22:22

They have had 5 dogs all together two died last year and one was only 5 !!!! Still haven't buried him yet and is in the vets! Then they adopt another one.... which doesn't like the little one so they separate them horrible family who neglect everything

OP posts:
SuperBeagle · 06/06/2017 22:24

We've reported our neighbour's dog 3 times (the most recent time being less than a month ago) and nothing has been done.

The dog has no shelter at all, the food is left out in the rain, they don't acknowledge her existence and truly wouldn't know if she vanished from their yard, and they have grass that's at least 1.5m high, meaning that the dog can no longer navigate the yard safely.

Still, nothing.

The only thing stopping me from taking the dog is the fact that they'll just go out and get another one.

LouiseBrooks · 06/06/2017 22:33

Report and keep reporting and take photos and video every single time. The RSPCA are constrained in that they have to go through certain steps legally, they actually have few powers and are often swamped. Report to the police as well.

taraer · 06/06/2017 22:43

It's getting out of hand because I'm getting so stressed with it sometimes we hear the little one crying before 6am! I can hear him far away too !
Very underweight the others a big dogs meant for weather like snow and that but they never get walks or anything it's so sad !!!! Their lives are outside or prob trapped in a room I've got loads of evidence

OP posts:
TattyCat · 06/06/2017 23:25

Evidence is key but it has to be concrete evidence, not just your word, unfortunately. Just keep reporting and recording. Sadly there's no real solution for such neglect other than it getting so bad that the perpetrators are banned from keeping dogs for ... however long... but never long enough. It's not right, it's not fair, but I don't know how it can be stopped except for neighbours who care.

taraer · 06/06/2017 23:28

I've heard the other neighbours on their road talking and also, one of them telling the dog to shut up it's sounds horrible that but tbh when he's outside he's just crying all the time none stop he's defo it for used to the life it's awful

OP posts:
SparklingRaspberry · 07/06/2017 13:29

We'll have you called them yet?

TheBrandNewBLUE · 07/06/2017 14:32

never have water

They must has access to some form of water, at least some of the time. A dog can't live any longer than a few days without water. So what water do they get.

TheBrandNewBLUE · 07/06/2017 14:33

They must have access - not has

taraer · 07/06/2017 14:34

Unless they have it in doors cause the swap but mainly the little one outside all the time and there is an empty bowl that's always in the same place !

OP posts:
user1480459555 · 07/06/2017 14:37

I don't have much faith in the RSPCA but it's still worth ringing them. If they are not interested and they probably won't be see if your local dog warden can be of any help.

SparklingRaspberry · 07/06/2017 21:15

OP have you called them?

taraer · 07/06/2017 21:35

Yeah I've spoke to someone and they are ringing me back, I have told them I have proof so hopefully I can show them ? I also suggested they come round to mine and see it from here
