Do you talk to your dog? and if so, what about? General dog stuff, re food, bed time etc, or actual conversations...

All the time.

Even out walking, do get funny looks with "We don't drink out of puddles!" but only from non dog people.

Our whippet is highly opinionated and he 'talks' a lot, mainly rude remarks about our cats, neighbours and people on TV. He comes out with some classic lines which have everybody in fits of laughter, even me (when I'm really the one that's talking and pretending to be him...?). Always suspected that I was a lunatic so feel nice and normal after reading this! We're getting a new whippet soon and DD is wondering what his voice will be like...not sure I can manage a second one, I'll get confused!

All the time! And they understand so much too.
Last night DH said he was going to have a shower and DDog1 walked in front of him to the bathroom, with DDog2 at his heels. They then "lie guard" outside the bathroom until he comes out.

All the time, about anything. Hes quite a vocal dog so its pretty funny. Hes very good at communicating what he wants, normally leads me to fridge for a treat!

I've had mine 4 weeks now- the talking has become 2nd nature! 🐶

Talk to her more than I talk to DH Grin

I talk to Eric all the time and he answers me back as well Grin In fact some days I talk more to the dog than I do anybody else tbh.

Lynnm63 · 29/05/2017 13:42

Yes. We all talk to the dog, she 'talks' back too. She also knocks the door when she wants to come in. You only get about 3 seconds before the second knock followed by a little growl to let you know she's waiting. She looks at us like she's channelling Dame Maggie Smith, we are a poor excuse for staff!

Mine talks back. I ask "what'd you do today? " she does a little grumble. "Oh, was it nice, " grumble. "And then what?" Grumble. Goes on for ages!
