She's got 45 min's left. Are we doing the right thing?

Our 15 year old samoyed's legs are giving out. Everytime she stands up she collapses. She's managed to walk to the kitchen but that's it. Shes still eating and drinking and is happy enough in herself. This has happened for 2 days. She has an appointment to be PTS at 6.30 but my heart is breaking. What if she's not ready to go :(

Unfortunately you have to speak out for her x this was the same point we let ours go also. .

She's ready. So sorry you're going through this, it's heart breaking.

Had to do it twice last year. It's not an easy decision but let the vet guide you and remember the good times Flowers

Dogs are notoriously stoic and it is often not obvious how much pain they are in.
There is a saying 'better a week too early than a day too late' regarding having them pts

Yes absolutely, it's not going to get better for her. We had to do exactly the same for our GSD in the same circumstances about 20 years ago. It's time Flowers

15 years is an amazing age, you have clearly given her great care. I had my 13-year old girl pts last week, so I completely understand how you feel. But you are doing a kind and loving thing to let her go before she knows suffering. I miss my darling girl so much, but I couldn't have borne to see her suffer.

Yes.Now is the time.Imagine if this happened when you were out. Had to do this for our beautiful Irish Terrier in April. Very sad but I know it was the right thing to do. X

She's ready even though you are not (and never will be), when we had to make the decision for our old Lab my wise son said "It is better a day too early than a moment too late" and he was right.

I had my previous dog put to sleep over Christmas. It's heartbreaking. I also questioned whether she was ready or not to go, but I now realise that was me not wanting her to go. I did the kindest thing.

It sounds like it's that time. There's nothing more you can do, and her quality of life isn't going to get any better. That's the thing you have to keep telling yourself.

You have given her a good life and you're doing the most kindest, selfless act you could do for her.
It's really really hard and your heart will break. But please remember you're doing the right thing.

Say your goodbyes and stay with her when it happens.
I held my girl (who was only 5) till the very end and although it was devastating I'm glad I did it. She will want you there.

I am so so sorry but if her legs are going then it is time. You won't be ready to let her go but the alternative is to leave it and let her suffer. Her body is telling you that it is time.

Yes. Do it while she's still "her". It's the hardest thing for us but undoubtedly the best for them. Do it, sob, have wine. Flowers

I agree that it is time. Otherwise she'll start being incontinent which she'll hate, feel guilty about, and that because she loves and respects you.
Be with her and give her the same love and respect she gives you.
I try to rest calm and caressing them till they sleep ... then I cry. But I try not to let my dog down, or show them how afraid I am. I feel I owe them that.
A dog will try to not let you see how she or he suffers, and hates letting you down. At least that's my experience with the dogs who've been part of my life, and I try to give them back a little of all they've given me at the end.
But it's so hard, I know. If you love her you'll find the courage to spare her any more suffering.
I found a poem you can google up "Rainbow Bridge for dogs", it's beautiful, and helps too.
