Would you like to meet a baby wolfhound?!
Would you?!?!

Before I get told off please know I have wanted this breed for years. I spent about 18 months researching, attending shows, meeting potential breeders, asking questions, seeking advice and generally finding experts to support me. This puppy is very much longed for and not bought off some internet puppy farmer.
So a picture?!

Gorgeous girl- Isla's a lovely name. When exactly did you get her? We wanted our minature Schnauzer home for Christmas but breeder's keeping her. Xmas Envy

TheMortificadosDragon · 10/12/2016 13:17

I met a lovely great dane who had a good way of sitting on a lap - she parked her rear end and kept her front paws on the floor. Maybe in time you can teach your pup that trick?Grin

Wolfiefan · 10/12/2016 13:21

Mortificado. She's learning that one already. We picked her up 1st December. She was ready to go a few days before that.
Amberley I understand you want your pup NOW!!! Well I did! But it's been so hard. Sleeping near her at the moment. Can't leave her. She's into everything at the moment. Plus people often go away or have visitors at Christmas. Sounds like your breeder is responsible. Plus there are unbelievably idiots who still think getting a pup as a present (even a surprise one!) is a great idea.

Oh, yes, even DHound here does that hilarious manoeuvre of reversing towards you to then plonk his skinny arse on yer knee with all 4 paws still on the ground Grin

I just showed that photo of Douglas to DS1(13) who cannot be persuaded that it is not photoshopped...

Mortificado, I know you'll be yearning but think of one more Christmas without having to guard the turkey from being stolen Xmas Wink

Wolfiefan · 10/12/2016 13:26

I am not sure I'm doing Turkey at all this year. Ok to live off cereal!!?!
She sat on me earlier. Missed and rolled off my lap! Was very surprised!
And please tell me it gets easier. Can't leave her. Hardly been out of the house. Cooking and cleaning and stuff really hard. She's just a baby yes?!?!

PacificDogwod · 10/12/2016 13:31

Yes.
She's just a baby.
This too shall pass, this too shall pass, this too shall pass..

larger breeds don't really grow up until they are around 3 years old
Xmas Grin

Oh my! In love! Me and dp want a wolfhound but we have a bit of a full house right now two greyhounds and a baby in a two bed maybe if we follow this thread we can have regular updates? Xmas Grin

TheMortificadosDragon · 10/12/2016 13:48

Pacific - its amberley who is yearning. I'm a smug owner(?) of a dachshund, the one hound from which a turkey is safe.Grin

PacificDogwod · 10/12/2016 13:49

Oh, sorry, crap! Blush

That is what happens when I try to MN while distracted Grin

Wolfiefan · 10/12/2016 13:55

She's actually really good. Chewing a toy right now. Working on come and leave and sit and wait etc already.
Think DH thinks I'm making a rod for my own back if I don't start leaving her alone. Jeez it's hard to type with a wolfie on your lap who's trying to de beak a soft toy bird!! It's just she sleeps happily in a massive crate at the moment. It's her safe and calm space. I don't want it to become her anxious mummy left me space. That'll ruin nights!
At the moment I'm wandering about and leaving her playing whilst I do a quick job or two then walking back in when she's calm (and before she eats the walls!!)

Wolfiefan · 10/12/2016 13:57

And thanks for being lovely. Expected to be told I shouldn't have bought a pedigree. Should have rescued etc. You are lovely.
And standing pic. Hard as she likes to sit on me and charges at me as soon as I crouch to take the pic!

Meet my pup!

Absolutely gorgeous but My Goodness the size of that one on the sofa!

UnbornMortificado · 10/12/2016 14:01

Oh my days she's lush.

My friend has one he's taller then DH on his hind legs.

Wolfiefan · 10/12/2016 14:22

Yes unborn. We are already working on the not jumping up. Apart from the fact we don't fancy broken bones in a couple of years she could actually injure herself if we let her.

OP posts:
UnbornMortificado · 10/12/2016 14:25

Don't know if it's breed typical but friends is very well trained.

She's 5 foot nothing so it's a good job Grin

TheMortificadosDragon · 10/12/2016 14:32

Dogs that large simply have to be well-trained, don't they? And presumably part of their breeding would be for temperament.

PacificDogwod · 10/12/2016 14:35

Yes, I think it is a breed characterising that they are quite docile, pleasant dogs.
And of course if they were allowed to throw their weight around, there would be more casualties than if my neighbours Chihuahua jumps up on me Grin

Wolfiefan · 10/12/2016 14:42

She is very sweet. No malice there at all but an untrained hound could do some damage! We are doing a few things already. No jumping up but also I walk out into the garden. She has to follow me out. She's used to a collar and lead. Proper training booked for after Christmas. I'm sure I will make mistakes but I have expert guidance!

UnbornMortificado · 10/12/2016 14:51

It's great your putting the effort it.

I'm not stigmatising against certain breeds I've got a Staffordshire myself but around my area you see owners being drags around by Mastiffs and other large breeds.

Not the dogs fault obviously but it can be worrying.

UnbornMortificado · 10/12/2016 15:06

*dragged rather

itsawonderfuldogslife · 10/12/2016 15:22

Gorgeous!!

2legit2knit · 10/12/2016 15:29

I am SO unbelievably jealous! Wolfhounds and staffies are the only breeds I go googoo for, I'm very much a mutt person usually. She's such a pretty colour! I want to squish her
