What mix is my mutt?

I bought a mixed breed puppy and have high suspicion that he is not the mix that I was told. I adore him and just wanted a mongrel so don't mind but it's another reason why not to buy dogs from gumtree etc. Any way would anyone like to have a guess what's in there or what he was sold as?
He's 8 months old and weighs 8kgs, has wavy hair that needs clipping but then course hair on his belly and in amongst the hair on his neck. He can bounce higher then he should be able too for something with such stumpy legs and loves chasing stuff. He's very energetic and needs plenty of walks or he gets 'naughty'.

They said 3/4 shih tzu and 1/4 chi. I'd be interested to get the X a test done to find out but I get the feeling it would cost more then he did! Make me wonder why they would lie though.

I googled and the first company I found charge £39, you might find it even cheaper.

MothershipG · 09/06/2016 14:46

I would say Shi Tzu x schnauzer.

I'm sure I read somewhere that those dog DNA tests are a con, you might want to check before parting with any money.

Breeders of crosses will often lie about heritage if they think it will help them shift the puppies faster or make more money.

Poodle cross Shih tzu

Lokibuddyboo · 09/06/2016 16:54

His body and colouring look like a Shih tzu but his face looks sausage dog or some sort of terrier with poodle like hair, definitely can't see any chihuahua in there but he's cute no matter what he is.

The DNA tests are worse than useless, they come up with totally random crap. You need to know one parent's origins to get anything of worth back.

I know someone mentioned Dandi Dimont and another said it's unlikely, but he is virtually identical to a mate's DD!

NeedACleverNN · 12/06/2016 11:38

I saw DD in there too. Rare they may be but they still exist. It's not totally unlikely

We have someone who walks a sealhym(sp) terrier round here. Another relatively rare breed but there he is

Miniature Schnauzer X Yorkie

He's lovely

Went to the big game fair a couple of years ago and there was a vulnerable breeds section, with about 20 of each of the rarer terrier types. They're still out there. There was a lowchen in a rescue locally last year. Rare as anything, but still around.

WhereTheFuckIsMyCunt · 12/06/2016 19:16

Yes but you'd have thought if there was DD in the dog that would be a big selling point due to the rarity and not be something which would be covered up. Id have thought a part DD would be very sought after.

This is Daisy 🌼 my 10 year old rescue - we haven't a clue what she is! We are thinking about having a DNA swab done just out of interest! She is gorgeous though (well we think so...)
