Shit, I have somehow acquired a puppy...

Help!! She is a teeny tiny baby shitzu crossed with something equally obscure. She is slightly larger than my foot. I have zero experience with puppies. What do j need to do? I've made her up a bed with towels and puppy food in a dish near her. I got her a baby bottle to try and get her to drink milk (kitten milk!) from that. She is ignoring all my efforts and is snoring on my foot...

Hope it goes well! Cooper was OK as the lovely vet gave him some doggy biscuits to munch on while she checked him over Smile he's so easily won over with food!

Theoneandonlyitchymcitch · 31/03/2016 18:22

So apparently she is in good health, despite her age! Vet (extremely good looking!!) was so nice, weighed her, took her temperature (she looked rather shocked!) and she is now micro chipped, only cried a tiny bit and then was all sweetness and light again... She had de flea stuff put on her neck as well, and taking her back in two weeks for her jabs. So proud of her!!! Need to dash and see my (now neglected!) loan horse... Wish I could stay in with her and just cuddle her, she was such a good girl! Happy that she seems to be fine, he felt her tummy and said it felt ok, was a bit embarassed of her shitty arse, but she did me proud. Well done puppy dog! She is now sleeping off the trauma, cuddled up to her favourite toy...

Ahh yay that's brilliant all is ok. Well done pup for doing so well and for pooing again Grin hope she settles into her new crate ok. We are getting Cooper to sleep in the kitchen for the first time tonight not sure how that's going to go but we'll see!

Theoneandonlyitchymcitch · 31/03/2016 20:16

I am clearly heartless as I made C sleep downstairs except for the first night when she slept on my shoulder... She has been fine about it, a bit of whining the first night, but she seems to like her space! Ahhhh I am so so so pleased the vet thinks she is ok!!! Load off my mind!

Here is C, sleeping on my bed, before I became stern and mean and put her downstairs into her bed..

I think it's good to get them sleeping where you want at first, we did things wrong and let him sleep in our bedroom (albeit in his crate) so now doing a gradual retreat to get him in the kitchen. Have just come up now and will be checking his camera all night!

yoomoo · 31/03/2016 23:14

Puppy cam update... He's asleep in his bed! Yay, thought he'd cry at being left alone but so far he seems ok Smile

yoomoo · 01/04/2016 07:34

Yay my little one did so well last night, not a peep from the kitchen from 11-7 when DH went down to let him out for a wee. Fingers crossed this good sleeping continues!

Haha love it, I do like animals who think they are something else Grin my tiny pup thinks he's a Rottweiler the way he approaches other dogs with no fear whatsoever and starts trying to play. He's been put in his place by some older dogs so think he's understanding his place!

Goingtobeawesome · 01/04/2016 12:24

My other cat fell out of the bedroom window this morning. He's just thick though. Doesn't think he can fly.

Theoneandonlyitchymcitch · 01/04/2016 17:16

Well done yoomoo and pup! c still hasn't done any 'visible' poos Sad vet didn't seem worried though and said to keep an eye on her.... Just going to go out in the garden and have a play! And give her some more chicken... Met a grown up version of her whilst in the pub for a very swift drink after work... Can't wait to see little C grow up!

I spoke too soon. The gardener man started the lawn mower.... Lovely little tiny poo came out once I had taken her to safety, shoved it on her puppy pad to try and encourage her to poo there in the future before she gets accustomed to going outside. I am so happy I saw her do an actual poo, and got to try out my new toy, a new fangled pooper scooper device (thanks mum!), decided it was crap and just picked up the Poo in the doggy bag. Can't believe I just picked up warm dog shit with just a bag for protection... What has become of me? I am now talking shit, literally!!! Been on the phone to the insurance company as well, is it just me, or do they deliberately talk in jargon just to confuse you! Decided to go with vetsure, as the hunky vet recommended it, plus a few of my friends said they were rather good... Any experiences good or bad???

The one and only, I have as a result of your photos been gazing at rescues,, again, DDog would not be impressed. I waaant a cuddle.

Theoneandonlyitchymcitch · 01/04/2016 18:40

Sorry... Just remember the endless training, the pooing (yay!) and weeing everywhere, the crying when you leave their side for literally two minutes, the chewed up stuff, the sleepless nights... The excitement on their little faces when they see you, the teeny tiny waggy tails, the snuffles and sighs when they bury their heads in your neck for a cuddle, the hunky 6 foot vets who melt at the sight of your little fluff baby, the excitement when they do something right, the smell of a tiny puppy... Oh god, I am making myself well up! Not helping your case am I? Grin

This it the third time I have posted here tonight I realise. After a vigorous play the poo is coming thick and fast... And to think I was praying for it... Oh god, I have a poo monster...

OP posts:
Fraggleyourock · 01/04/2016 20:36

Haha! I'm the same with my DCs! If they don't poo for a couple of days I'm almost praying for it, then end questioning why I ever asked for it when I'm elbow deep in a poonami clean up! Amnesia betwixt said poonami's though, because I still beg them to poo every time the decide to not go for a couple of days! Madness!

Theoneandonlyitchymcitch · 01/04/2016 20:54

And she is not even my child! She is a ball of fluff.... Sigh. She is now sqwuaking at ME because I have shut her into her room to eat her dinner... Have been running about all evening with her and now i need a rest and some dinner. Tell me it gets easier??
