Shit, I have somehow acquired a puppy...

Help!! She is a teeny tiny baby shitzu crossed with something equally obscure. She is slightly larger than my foot. I have zero experience with puppies. What do j need to do? I've made her up a bed with towels and puppy food in a dish near her. I got her a baby bottle to try and get her to drink milk (kitten milk!) from that. She is ignoring all my efforts and is snoring on my foot...

I know! I was so happy when I saw the evidence of poo!!! Even though it was all over her bum and my t-shirt, brings to mind the phrase holy poo! Just had a lovely run around the garden, I don't know about her but I needed a sit down when we came back inside. She had some water and is now cuddled up with her chew toy. The vet surgery was lovely, and really understanding, so taking her in tomorrow to get her all checked out. Then take the jabs etc from there. She really is the cutest. I just hope I can do her justice. And tell me about the nasty Hoover, she made friends with a plant pot earlier and rolled it about with her nose, the look of sadness and betrayal when it rolled back into her was beyond belief! Here is another gratuitous photo of her enjoying the fresh air and the sunshine (finally!)

Poor Alfie. I guess that stings... C has been playing, so much so that there have been two accidents.... Have got the chicken - but keep eating it myself... She is supposed to me me thinner with lots of healthy walks but is making me ingest far more protein that I would Normally eat... Boo. She got far too excited about her new toys that I got from waitrose ( nothing on the label to say they weren't suitable for puppies, I checked), so I clapped my hands when she was mid wee and plonked her outside. Hopefully that has done the trick? Just realised now that I have lost a nail extension... Shit shit shit. What if she has eaten it???

Ok serious help needed here now. Nail extension has vanished... She always chewing on my hands before but didn't feel it come off. They are relatively recent ones as well, where the fuck has it gone? Has she eaten it!!!??? ARGH

She might have...I wouldn't worry about it too much, if she has it'll more than likely just pass through.

yoomoo · 30/03/2016 21:06

Bless love the photo! Good luck tomorrow at the vets, hope it all goes well. Are you getting her microchipped too? I nearly cried when they did Cooper's but he was not remotely bothered by it! It's good to know he should be returned to us if he got lost or stolen.
We've been to puppy class tonight, he completely showed us up by doing an exercise beautifully for the trainer which he didn't do very well at all for us, little bastard!

yoomoo · 30/03/2016 21:09

Just seen the recent messages!
Don't worry if she's eaten it, it will come out the other end! You know those metal springy things that sit behind internal doors? Well on his 2nd day with us Cooper decided to eat the white plastic bit off the end. In my mind it was huge compared to this tiny little puppy and I was ready to rush him to the vets but DH talked me down and the next day it was out the other end so try not to worry!

Ok, but she is so so so small. Stupid nails. Stupid vanity... She just wolfed down a bit of chicken... She wouldn't have done that if she had just munched a false nail, would she???

yoomoo · 30/03/2016 21:30

Honestly she'll be fine, I was really worried about the plastic as it was huge compared to him but it came out the other end no problem!

tabulahrasa · 30/03/2016 21:31

She might - honestly they eat loads of things and they're fine...you haven't lived till you've had to help a sock out the other end Hmm

Yes there's a chance that a foreign object would make her unwell - but, you'd know, she'd be visibly unwell.

yoomoo · 30/03/2016 22:06

A sock Tabula?! Omg!! Mine eats bark and stones which I regularly have to fish out of his mouth I thought that was bad enough 😂

I'm quite relieved it's not just my daft pup that puts everything in his mouth! We've been learning off and leave it at puppy class this week so hopefully that will sink in after more practice this week. Sorry if I've missed it further up Dixie but what breed is Alfie?

Ahh cute! Haha so as you've been through babies and now a puppy which one is harder?! Me and OP were trying to figure it out further up thread Smile

yoomoo · 30/03/2016 22:28

I keep finding random stuff under the pillow of Cooper's bed where he's obviously pinched it quickly, run away and then hid it so we can't find it. Silly sod forgets I wash his bed so I find all his stash every few days Grin

We've been lucky too, Cooper sleeps right through the night without needing a toilet break. He does run to the door when we let him out in morning but think he likes his sleep too much to get up and pee in the night!
2 years Shock I won't tell DH that as he thinks nothing can be harder than a puppy so he'll be in for a rude awakening if we have kids in a couple of years Grin

Ahh that's so adorable, he's tiny and so lovely that your little boy has bonded with him so well. Yes he is, he sleeps in it at night with door closed as at the moment he's on landing outside our bedroom but tomorrow he'll be going into the kitchen (we've done a gradual move) so he can have the door open. During the day he tends to sit in the lounge with me as I'm off work at the mo following a knee op. Only really uses the crate at night or when cleaner gets the Hoover out!
