Our 14 year old collie died nearly a year ago today and we are now ready for another dog as our house/family doesn't feel right without one Smile

With my last dog I didn't read any books and just did what came naturally. I was lucky, he was an amazing, lovely and well behaved dog. However, this time I'm not feeling so confident and wondered if anyone had any recommendations of training/puppy books - I am very into gentle kinds of training. Think attachment parenting for dogs Grin

Also, we are driving quite a way to pick him up, any advice on what to take with us? And what do I definitely need for our return?!!! My last pup had newspaper on bin bags to pee on indoors whilst training, but think there are now puppy pads!!! Wink

Any tips or advice is very appreciated Grin

Love his name!

Moonandstarsandback · 01/02/2016 17:28

Thanks Hell,

He's really settled in well! He's hilarious!! Doing lots of pees and poos on the garden although is also doing a fair few in the house too!!! It's a full time job though Grin I've barely done a thing today in between mopping up, visits to the garden and cuddles!! Smile

Nosuch, how's your pup with toileting now?

Lovely name!
She's great. Clean both overnight and during day. We occasionally have excitement accidents (all the lovely new people visiting or seeing us after we have been away for work for the day) and had some accidents after visiting vet for jabs today.
She was on her best behaviour yesterday when we had some friends visiting with a small child. No nipping. I was amazed.

Beautiful dog! Congratulations and love the name.

Our dogs both came to us knowing only English but are now bilingual, which was some feat for the older one, she was 2 when we got her! If its any help the Welsh for pee and poo are exactly the same!

Have fun and enjoy!!

Moonandstarsandback, where in Sussex are you? I'm in Brighton and we have a 15 week BC puppy. He was very quick to learn toilet training without pads, but had to take him out at the slightest sign. Teaching him not to bite or try to chase cars is another matter. We are starting obedience training next week, probably a bit late really, but hopefully he'll take to it. How's it going with your pup as you must have had him a few weeks now?

Sorry for delayed replies, it stopped alerting me!

Nosuch, that's great Smile we've had the exited wee on friends too Grin

Siency, clever pup!! Good to know the important commands like pee and poo are the same in welsh! Grin

Karen, I'm in brighton too! We should meet up with her bc puppies. Mine is allowed out from Wednesday!! Excited.

I took him for his first walk today!!! He wasn't keen on the lead! When I let him off, he barely left my side! Bless him! He was crying! The big wide world was a bit scary! Especially when a grown 1 year old doggie wanted to play!!! Eek! He's nice and tired now though!

Grin
