I think we're losing him

DDog is 6. It looks like cancer.

I can't stop crying. Our other dog is a rescue and relies on him for everything. She is lost. Our 2 year old doesn't understand but wants to know where he is (currently at vets).

DH and Ddog had their first year at agility this year. They were winning places, even beating collies. How can this be happening? He was fine on Tuesday. Absolutely fine.

What do I tell DS? What do I do with my other dog?

Sorry. I can't think straight.

Flowers Flowers to all of you - so sad - I have been following your journey with Murphy since you first posted so am sitting here looking at Ddog (aged 12) with a massive lump in my throat.
Thoughts are with you Sad

Oh I'm so sorry Cupcakes. I think you did just about everything you could though. Sounds like he gave it his best shot but ultimately you know you can't keep them alive just for your own sake and that last act of love is the kindest, most generous thing you can do. It breaks your bloody heart, I know all too well, but he's at peace and you know you did the right thing for him.

Doesn't make it much easier right now but that's what I believe. I hope you can gleam a small bit of comfort from it.

Awwww, bless you for asking. I could just say OK like I do when asked but you know that can't really be true. Good days and bad days, good moments and bad moments. Still early days and the shock of the death part is still sinking in while the dreadful missing them part also begins. It's not easy hey.

I've been working on a video of Berkeley which has been hard but also joyful and a great excuse to indulge in looking at all his videos and pics. I'll post it when finished. I've also bought a heart charm for my bracelet and lots of plants for his grave plus a funny grave marker which he would love.

Any little thing we can do, isn't it. The urge to think/talk about him all the time is so strong.

I'm so sorry - I dread going through this with ours

It sounds like Murphy had a lovely and very full life with you

Bless you all. It's such a painful decision to make. Murphy sounds like a diamond dog.

For Christmas this year we all had beads made containing our old fella's ashes, I guess it might seem overly gushy to some but it means a little bit of him lives on on us.

just de-lurking to ask how you are doing OP - a few days on from your loss of Murphy - it is so hard to get used to the dog-shaped hole in your life even if you have another dog.
It is such a hard decision to make and they are not 'just a dog' - they light up your life, give you a reason to get up in the morning and grant you unquestioning devotion and trust - and then break your heart when they leave us. Sad
