My boy (small terrier) sleeps right up on the pillow next to my head. I'm a lone parent so there's a whole side for him but that's where he likes to be Smile.

Huge Staffordshire terrier. Under the covers between me and DP. I'm always hanging off the bed whilst he's sprawled quite happy.

I don't think I could leave him downstairs he's get lonely Grin

ThatBloodyWoman · 05/03/2015 21:36

On top of the covers,my side, wherever I want to put my legs at any given time.
He's quite small.
When I wake up he jumps all over me and tries to snog me so I have to brace myself when I want to get up.

SecretSpy · 05/03/2015 21:37

Smallish terrier mutt sleeps tucked behind my knees. When she's away with DH I miss her most at bedtime Grin

Nanasueathome · 05/03/2015 21:39

There is a throw on the bottom half of the bed , on top of the duvet, and my dog sleeps under the throw
Completely under
So you just see a big lump in the bed
Not sure how she even manages to breathe but she wriggles and gets under every time
She is a Dalmatian, so not a small thing either

queentroutoftrouts · 05/03/2015 21:41

Right next to me, I sometimes wake up and wonder were she's gone then realise she's been sleeping right under my arm all night, ooh the joys Grin

MothershipG · 05/03/2015 21:43

Ddog1 sleeps with DD, and likes to sleep in the middle of the bed, DD says she is a hog not a dog, ie a bed hog Grin

Ddog2 sleeps with DH and I, generally at our feet but comes under the covers if he's cold.

Ddog3 sleeps between DH and I, usually in the small of my back.

Cozy! Smile

queentroutoftrouts · 05/03/2015 21:44

As soon as she realises I'm awake I get a enthusiastic kiss right on my face as I'm usually not quick enough to move in my just woken up daze ConfusedHmm

Murphy29 · 05/03/2015 21:48

He moves about quite a lot between:

On top of covers down at feet or between DH legs;
Under covers between DH legs or curled up behind my knees;
Across the top of my pillow, whilst kicking his legs into my head so I move down the bed and get a slither of pillow!

He's a terrier so thankfully not too big.

DramaAlpaca · 05/03/2015 21:49

Curled up at the end of the bed.

She prefers DS1 and normally sleeps stretched out alongside him with her legs dangling off the edge of the bed, but if he's not at home she bunks in with me.

And I said I'd never allow a dog on my bed Confused

CherryLips1980 · 05/03/2015 22:13

Our first dog (weimaraner) used to sleep on his back between us. If he could sneak his head on to a pillow, so much the better.

Current DDog (also a weim) sleeps downstairs in a crate. He has no bed manners at all. We tried.

ThatBloodyWoman · 05/03/2015 22:25

Our first dog used to snarl and growl at dh and get quite scary when he tried to get into bed after his late shift.
She was deaf and had cataracts though,so he learned how to leap in quick using the duvet as a buffer.
Bless her.We loved that old girl.

NickiFury · 05/03/2015 22:29

Some of these home made me Grin. "No bed manners at all. We tried". Give us an example please.

My woofer is banned from our bed at the moment Sad

Dd2 is due any day and we have a bed side cot, that the dog has become quite accustomed too Blush

But when dd2 is into her own room woofer can return! She is a whippet so can be quite painful If she decides to stretch those loooong legs out.

She's usually between me and DH. Not curled up, stretched as long as she can get, actually spooning DH.

Good job we loves her Smile

Adarajames · 05/03/2015 22:48

They only rarely sleep with me if I'm feeling crap and need the comfort, the old girl sleeps up about my chest height in a ball on he other side of the double bed, she doesn't like to be touching me or younger dog unless it's very cold or she feels crap and needs comfort. The younger one would love to sleep as on top or close to me as she could, but I've trained her to sleep at bottom half of other side of bed, is allowed to be in contact with my legs, but not on me, alth she atill tries to squeeze a sneaky butt cheek on me if she can! Grin

HcachumBabow · 05/03/2015 22:50

DH and I sleep separately (major disagreement about the temperature a bedroom should be Wink) so I share a super king size bed with three whippets.

They sleep under the covers, usually the two older ones against my back/the backs of my legs and the youngest curled up against my chest/stomach.

It's lovely Grin

cosytoaster · 05/03/2015 22:54

Curled up next to me under the covers...lovely and cosy n winter Smile

LokiBuddyBoo1 · 05/03/2015 23:49

My boy sleeps under the covers and he alternates between either curled up behind my knees(favourite spot), inbetween my legs with his head on my foot or up against my side resting his head on my arm. He absolutely needs to be right next to me resting his head on me ,lucky he's a really small jackhuahua.

loveulotslikejellytots · 06/03/2015 00:00

My staffie sleeps on his own bed, which is down DH's side of the bed, but only until the heating goes off. The gap between the bed and radiator is only about 18 inches, he loves being all smooshed up against it.

As soon as he gets a bit chilly he'll come up in between us both, down by my legs, usually tucked behind my knees. I know it's really got cold when I get his cold nose pushed into my arm. Which is a signal that means "lift the duvet up". He then sleeps completely under the duvet snuggled into my knees. How he breathes I don't know! He obviously gets too hot sometimes, I'll wake up to the mattress slowly bobbing where he's panting so hard! Then he goes on the spare bed Smile spoilt much!

Want2bSupermum · 06/03/2015 00:08

We have a golden who sleeps on my side. If he can get a paw on my shoulder he is the happiest but he will settle for part of him touch part of me. Normally his head rests on my leg or my stomach area.

Tortoise · 06/03/2015 00:14

I'm on a single size sofa bed and I have a greyhound at the bottom under the duvet, Jack Russell in any space he can find under the duvet, often behind my knees and a bichon x lab on my pillows kicking me in the head! Oh the joys of bed sharing with dogs. Grin
On the plus side I don't get cold!
(I sleep downstairs due to lack of bedrooms and can't really stop them getting in my bed)

VivaLeBeaver · 06/03/2015 00:16

I sleep on my tummy and dog curls up balanced on my bum. Other dog spends all night trying to get her head on a pillow while repeatedly been told to get down the end of the bed!

Dh thinks it's more like this.

If you let your dog sleep on the bed, how and whereabouts does he/she sleep?
Tortoise · 06/03/2015 00:17

This is Dougal right now behind my pillows!

If you let your dog sleep on the bed, how and whereabouts does he/she sleep?
Murphy29 · 06/03/2015 04:01

Oh I forgot - with all the moving about he does DDog has trained us to lift the covers when he nudges our heads! Right now I'm awake after feeding DS and DDog has claimed my full pillow and is snoring in my ear Grin

GloriousGloria · 06/03/2015 05:57

Dog 1 usually with DS on top of the duvet but under a throw

Dog 2 on the pillow next to my head. My breathing soothes him.

Dog 3 under the duvet by my feet. Perfect for keeping warm.

All three are terriers

Skivvywoman · 06/03/2015 09:45

When I turn the light off he comes up to my side for snuggles lasts about 10 mins usually then he goes down to the bottom, if I wake up during the night he is either in the middle of dh and I,at the bottom or sometimes not often on the floor!
When dh gets out the bed for work he squeezes into my side and I've got to move over but he's very very lazy and won't get up until I do and even then he either goes back to bed or lays on sofa
