Eve - I went to dogstrust initially, when considering a spaniel. I was told, quite frankly, that spaniel types are not suitable for a first time dog owner, with a family. I am looking at our springer spaniel now, who is a pleasure, who is beautifully trained, did his KC gold by the age of 1 and has been easy. Both my dogs are loved to pieces and will never ever go into rescue, whatever happens.
I was also offered a rescue JRT, who was in foster with a different rescue, having met him twice and been homechecked. The manager of the rescue then decided to overrule the foster carer, who had already telephoned and offered me the dog, and gave him to a mate of hers. The foster carer was devastated, she felt strongly this wasn't in the dogs best interests.
Forgive me for saying this, but I simply made a different choice to you, based on my own individual circumstances, experiences, and needs. Your post does come across a wee bit as if myself and the breeders I used are lesser folk
Not wishing to start an argument, we got our dogs via a different route, but my dogs are just as much loved and adored as yours clearly are, just they came from a BREEDER.
ps - AGA sounds nice
