What to do with the dog ashes?

Just picked him up. Thought I'd just pop him on top of the bookcase but I keep looking at the box and weeping (again).

But I don't want him shut away in a cupboard either.

Or should I plant him with a tree?

I keep thinking of Phoebe in Friends who had her Grandmother's ash in her taxi.

And The Royle Family when Mary was in the Dyson.

Inappropriate giggling. Then more tears.

We had all of the first one (great big box ) and the rest we just had a sample ( in the wooden box) as the first was TBH impractical ,but we weren't to know that because we had never had a dead horse before . We paid for individual cremations though so I'm happy that they are our ashes .

MY lovely Cracker died just over 2 years ago. His ashes are in a box which sits on his blanket in front of the radiator in the living room. This was his his 2nd favourite place to sleep, his first being my bed, so he obviously can't go there Grin.

I keep his collar beside my bed though and his lead still hangs on the hall cupboard door handle, I just can't bring myself to move it.

When I die I want his ashes placed in my coffin beside me.

So sorry about your dog, they leave such a gaping hole, along with so many happy memories Sad

So sorry for your loss. It's two weeks tomorrow that we lost our boy. It's so, so hard.

We've put our lovely boy on a shelf above his favourite place to lie. It feels nice having him home so I don't think we're going to scatter them.

We thought about a tree but I'm worried I may kill it. We're going to make a scrap book of all our favourite memories and we're going to buy a really lovely bench to put in the garden. We will get a plaque to put on it and it can be our place to sit and remember him.

We lost our 14yr old Labrador 6 weeks ago. We bought a Norwegian Acer and planted it with her ashes in the garden. We don't intend to move. We watered it religiously for the first three weeks, and we've just come back from holiday and Sally's tree has lots of new growth on it. When we planted the tree, we had a mini ceremony as the kids needed to be able to say goodbye properly. It helped. I feel less sad about it now as the tree growing in the garden seems to suggest new life and peace. I will always love my Bear, but somehow it's comforting to know she's close by us all.

My dog is still on the mantlepiece three and a half years on. I intended to scatter originally, but I just can't. After he died and went away to be cremated I felt terribly anxious because I didn't know where he was, but as soon as I had him back in the house I felt better.

I have my dog's ashes in a cabinet in the living room, She died 10years ago. I'm keeping them so they can go with me when it's my turn. My gorgeous current girl will also be with me. I'll probably need a bigger casket just to accommodate all my girls lol.
