Yes - we did have one and I lost...

More info?

GrimmaTheNome · 09/03/2012 10:13

Yes, DD wants one of every size/coat variety of dachshund, and a few other breeds beside, DH and I are sticking at one!

What's the problem, misdee?

D0oinMeCleanin · 09/03/2012 10:16

Doggy divide? [clueless] Confused

Are you okay Misdee?

misdee · 09/03/2012 10:18

just fed up this week.

we have a lovely labradoodle called ralph. 2yrs old.

just seems like very day someone moans about him. he doesnt actually do anything wrong, he just does doggy stuff. he is not agressive, he is not hyper anymore, he is pretty well trained, he is dog and people friendly.

but yet everything is left to me. i do the feeding, arranging vets, arrnaging groomer, poo pick up, walking, training.

am 34 weeks pregnant and fed up.

dh texted me 'the fucking dog has chewed my bike' well tbh the 'fucking' dog is bored shitless this week, as baby boy is ill and i've barely left the house since tuesday. the poor dog has been subjected to benign neglect this week as i just dont have the energy to care for everyone and myself let alone the dog.

i replied 'fine i'll get rid of the dog'

am just sick of it

(btw i am not getting rid of the dog, he is lovely and perfect for us, just w ish the rest of the family would man up and help)

Oh that kind of divide. Yes we have lots of those in our house. We have a dog divide, a cat divide, a house work divide, a parenting divide. We are just divided in general Hmm

DH despises my dogs most of the time but accepts that if he wants me to stay then my dogs stay too and any other waif or stray I happen to pick up along the way will also stay until some where more suitable can be found.

We don't have a Whippy divide, well only in the sense that I find myself saying often "She is a fucking dog fgs, Stop hand feeding her chicken cavier and no she doesn't need a bloody brolly to go for a wee in the rain"

It will get better but you need to talk to DH and tell him you need more help with walking and less whining.

AIBUqatada · 09/03/2012 10:25

I thought that doggy divide meant something like a stairgate.Grin

It is me that does everything for our dog too, but I don't mind as I was the main mover in getting a dog. You should def be cut some slack during pregnancy and post-birth, though.

My memory of dog walking during heavy pregnancy is the non-stop al fresco toileting stops -- mine I mean, not the dog's. I think I christened more of the chountryside than he did.

misdee · 09/03/2012 10:26

once vast amounts of fluids stop seeping from the small boy. i am heading over the fields with the dog and not returning for several hours. i might go via the lakes and the coffee shop aas well

[needs time alone smiley]

most days i have the energy to still keep up the walks. but since tuesday both dh and i have been up all hours with the poorly boy. last night, as dh was exhausted and needing to be up early for work, i ended up down here till gone midnight with the boy screaming in pain. throughout that, ralph didnt leave the boys side, even when i had to dash to the loo quickly. so poor dog is being lovely, and not getting a walk.

might make him a special kong later to say sorry.

aww misdee - poor you! And pregnant too. You are doing amazingly well to be spinning so many plates. No wonder you need to vent! As labradoodle is a 'family' dog then everyone in said 'family' needs to actively participate (meaning dh of course) . Hopefully you will be allowed a break once dc arrives Smile. In the meantime here's one of these Brew and one of these Biscuit to keep you going Smile

misdee · 09/03/2012 10:35

seriously, the dog is going nowhere

OP posts:
midori1999 · 09/03/2012 10:36

Yep. My DH hates one of my dogs. (The dog isn't overly keen on him either tbh...) Being fair, the dog is extremely dog aggressive and wants to kill my neighbours small dog, which would take half a bite I suspect, so it is a stressful situation. He is okay ish with my own dogs, but periodically fights break out.

Recently when DH say yet again 'he will have to go' I suggested he took him tot he vet and asked them to put him to sleep then, as that is what would happen if we didn't keep him anyway. I suspect he won't mention the dog having to go again....

AllergicToNutters · 09/03/2012 10:38

awww - that is precious!

D0oinMeCleanin · 09/03/2012 10:38

Last time DH told me my dog would 'have to go' I wholly agreed and he went. As did I.

misdee · 09/03/2012 10:41

thanks for letting me vent.

going to put the kettle on, hope ds gets better soon, and if he falls asleep this afternoon, will put him in the buggy and take ralph to the fields for a quick run about

ChickensHaveNoLips · 09/03/2012 10:43

DH tolerates the dog. He occassionally moans about this or that (usually behaviour based) and I just say 'Well, feel free to train him then. Like I'm doing'. That usually shuts him up.

misdee · 09/03/2012 14:34

mmm no reply to my childish text this morning.

maybe he does love the furball afterall.

Flatbread · 10/03/2012 10:55

That photo is adorable!

Doing, am lol at the image of your dh taking the dog out with a brolly to keep her dry Grin

Joolyjoolyjoo · 10/03/2012 18:30

Sympathies. We had (have?) a dog divide in our house. I had my old boy (then a young boy) when I met DH, then I got witchydog before we were living together/ married.

DH is not as much of a doggy person as I am. He is far less tolerant of the poo/ smell/ mess/ chewed things. When old boy got old and senile he became incontinent which drove DH mad, and led to an even bigger divide Sad Witchydog hedged her bets and decided to become his dog. That means that, despite me doing nearly all the walking/ feeding etc, she only behaves for him Angry

Oldboy is sadly no longer with us, and as witchydog is his dog (even though he didn't want her!) the divide is less obvious, thankfully. But she's still MY dog when she pees the floor/ chews things (she is 12!) Twill be always so.

mycatsaysach · 10/03/2012 18:37

he is sooooooooooooo cute

misdee · 10/03/2012 18:49

He may be cute but he gets away with too much because of his fluffy cuteness. He is a great footwarmer as well.

Managed to get a couple of short walks in, so he is happier, and he has a belly full of bones and is content.
