Share stories, advice and ask for help if you need it! There are a few resident hound experts (myself not included) in the doghouse, so, feel free to share! :)

The kennel owner is contacting the trainer for me and calling me back next week. I know it's all a bit irregular but every little helps! He's on Seraquin (which I have to hide inside a pilchard) and this should help him out and make a difference within a few weeks. He raced at Henlow.

He's nice and warm, has three shorter walks a day now (except for today when we went to the forest this morning!) and I'm giving him pilchards with every meal. It's so good to hear about your old girl and how she's lived with it.

I'm sure being sat on was made very worthwhile for a chunk of LIVER CAKE!

Have you made it yet Betsy?

i hope you get some decent information on Billllys racing history and accidents.

Sadly not. We don't have a microwave - but we DO have liver that I am going to fry at my mum's tomorrow.

MissBetsyTrotwood · 07/04/2012 20:32

We have met Duchess and Owl

They are lovely. Poor old things, stuck in kennels again. And FWIW we are not going to the Easter Bonnet Parade. Billy would never stand for any of that tomfoolery. [bugrin]

MagratGarlik · 07/04/2012 21:43

Hi all, it's OMD under a new name (got fed up of the old one). Sorry to hear about Billy's arthritis, Betsy, my previous dog had arthritis. I can't really offer any advice though, but I can sympathise.

We do not have progress on the pointy 2 hunt, in that we have reserved a gorgeous brindled lurcher (picture on profile). She is thought to be around 6 years old and is only an inch or two taller than whippetty - they had her down as a lurcher, though as you can see from her picture she actually doesn't look as though she has any non-sighthound genes. Anyway, we had her mix with whippetty today and they seemed fine (tbh they sniffed at each other and then ignored each other), so come next friday she will be the new addition to our family [bugrin].

MagratGarlik · 07/04/2012 21:44

Ah, that second paragraph should actually read We do have progress on the pointy 2 hunt

SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 07/04/2012 21:52

Hooray!!! Congratulations Magrat!! I'm so happy for you :) I hope you will all be very happy together and whippy boy limes his new housemate :)

Woohoo Margrat - she is beautiful!!! Brilliant news [busmile]

Scuttlebutter · 07/04/2012 23:28

Betsy, I am swooning over Owl and Duchess - they are absolutely lovely, and Nugget is a younger version of our Andy. Wish there was a Swoon/heart emoticon. I just love older greys - there's something so wise and gentle about those beautiful grey faces and big brown eyes.

But nothing beats a greyhound looking mutinous while wearing comedy headgear. [bugrin]

Magrat, that's such exciting news. She is stunning. When is she coming home with you? I feel there is an urgent need for more pics!

MagratGarlik · 07/04/2012 23:40

She's coming home on friday, all being well. The drive home though will take us about an hour and we don't know whether she will be OK in the car (the car freaked whippetty out when we collected him) - do you think we would be best to take whippetty with us when we collect her, or leave him home? On one hand I am thinking about 2 dogs who don't know each other being confined in a small space for an hour and on the other hand, I wonder if it might calm her down.

SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 07/04/2012 23:44

Talking of older ones, a 9yo black girl was returned to LGT yesterday, from her 2nd home :( after 5 months her 2nd owner decided she couldn't cope with her anymore even though she admitted the dog hadn't been any trouble whatsoever. Poor love, she must be so confused :(

I'd leave whippy at home for first journey. You don't know how it is going to go and it is one less thing to worry about. See how she gets on.

NotMostPeople · 07/04/2012 23:53

Oh goodness MissBetsy your link is too much I want to take them all home with me. Owl and Duchess look lovely.

MagratGarlik · 08/04/2012 00:01

Thanks, that makes sense. I think we might then try to drive to a nice walk nearby and let them meet there before driving home. She really seemed to think she would come home with us today, she didn't seem to want to leave ds1.

I am of course going to have to do more pointy shopping this week - I swear the dogs will end up better dressed than I (whippetty already has 3 different collars for starters)!

SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 08/04/2012 06:33

Did anyone else notice onBetsys link, Tim and Kay were sat down?

Owl and Duchess are lovely, especially Duchess and also Pimms, I love dogs that colour. LGT have a gorgeous one in at the moment, named Lemon. DP asked me if I thought his first name is Keith [buhmm] [bugrin]

OP posts:
SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 08/04/2012 06:36

(Keith) Lemon

OP posts:
MissBetsyTrotwood · 08/04/2012 07:59

Ah, great news about pointy 2. I love that she didn't want to leave your DS. And, naturally, the shopping comes as a necessity!

Ha ha. Mutinous is the word all right. I wonder, if the roles were reversed, what they'd have us all wearing...

Lemon looks lovely. Billy is about to depart on a tour of his empire and loving minions Easter family break so we'll be offline for a while but a very happy Easter and BH to you all. I'd better go now as I've just heard one child whisper stagily to the other "Oh NO that's chocolate mummy will be ANGRY."

BehindLockNumberNine · 08/04/2012 09:43

Lemon looks beautiful (like a big version of my Sam....[buwink]).

I love them all and would have a house full given half a chance...
I currently have a massive soft spot for Bob at CCGT (scroll down until you reach Bob)
But Pina is lovely too.... awww, they all are...

But I am not allowed any more so will have to just have to love them from afar as it were...

Scuttlebutter · 08/04/2012 13:10

Lemon - handsome, handsome, handsome....... He is just so gorgeous.

Betsy, have a lovely Easter break and hope Billy enjoys meeting his loyal serfs....

Ah, Magrat, the joys of pointy porn.... dreams wistfully of Easter collars....

SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 08/04/2012 13:40

Oh did you see the old married couple in CCGT? Bless them :)

SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 08/04/2012 14:32

OP posts:
MagratGarlik · 08/04/2012 17:22

Ooo, they are all gorgeous, they just have such an elegance to them.

I am currently reading around about how to introduce a second dog into the home and figuring out all the stuff we are going to need - it's exciting, but a bit scary at the same time.

BehindLockNumberNine · 08/04/2012 20:13

Ronnie and Skye - yes they are gorgeous, have met them 'in the flesh'. Really cute, hope they find a loving home soon...

Scuttle - Easter collars??? Have not looked. The lady who made Sam's house collar did a lovely range of Halloween and Christmas collars but we were completely broke at the time so did not indulge... Easter collars, now that sounds like a nice idea
