Our doggy (who we lost in February
) was a staffie cross. Nobody could work out exactly what he was crossed with, even the vet.
He was just like a stretched staffie, stretched both tall and long.
He was a rescue dog but came from the pound, not a proper rescue. He was unfortunately not great with stranger dogs running up to him, anxiety aggression (never attacked another dog but made it very clear he didn't appreciate the invasion of his space). But other than that he was perfect. Gorgeous boy. Lovely and cuddly, liked to stick his head in my lap for me to scratch his ears. Favourite position was lying upside down propped against the sofa. He was the nosiest dog ever, loved his sniffs and used to properly stare at people in the street if he thought they were interesting. So gentle and good natured. Scared of the Hoover but other than that just a joy to have in the house.
We generally had ok responses to him. I think most sensible people can tell when you're a responsible owner but there were some idiots who snatched their children up when we came near.
He was brindle and quite stripy looking and children often used to say 'mummy mummy look at that tiger dog over there'
Poor old man, I still feel sad when I think of how wonderful he was and how much he enjoyed life, compared to how poorly he was at the end (he had v aggressive cancer which saw him go from a slightly stiff old man, still enjoying walks and jumping up on the bed, to a poorly thing who was incontinent and could barely walk in the space of a fortnight)
Sorry I've brought the thread down a bit. But the important thing was he was so wonderful and so many staffie and staffie crosses languish in rescues because of unfair misconceptions.
