I have a minature schnauzer.

He is so gentle and kind but so full of heart as well. So protective of all of us.

He is terrified of all other dogs, one chased him when he was tiny on the second time out and he never got over it.

If I am awake, he is awake, he doesn't sleep unless I do, so I am never alone, which I love, always got company.

When he gets annoyed about something, he walks around shaking himself. So, walk not long enough? Big irritable shakes as we go inside. He likes to be in bed by 11.30, past that, he will start stalking about shaking himself every 30 seconds or so, kids dare to switch the tv on? he jumps off the sofa, shakes himself and storms off down to the bedroom.

On the button of 18.00 he comes to wherever I am and stares at me, moving closer and closer until he is practically sitting on me, its time to go out.

He is gorgeous and I honestly don't think I will ever have any other breed of dog now because of him. Minature Schnauzers all the way.

i have a pugalier who is three and has the most miserable face ever but everyone stops us to ask about her, shes so loyal tho and wont leave your side when ur under the weather, but she has a bad habit of trying go hump our cats! and a beautiful old girl beagle who we got as a rescue dog, she had a terrible life and has many scars. It took us ages to teach her to walk on a lead and even now she always gets under my feet, and as for running bless her she was all over the place.

But her traumas have taken it's toll and she's struggling a bit now which is breaking my heart. Just thank god that she got out of her situation and have managed a few years of total love with us (pubic welling up writing that, what a sap!)

boohoohoo · 17/06/2011 18:03

Omg pubic! What's that all about, not even sure what it's meant to say.!

chickchickchicken · 17/06/2011 18:03

Grin at pubic

I have Hero who is a medium sized rough coated terrier cross. He has one eye and has the occasional siezure. He is about 15. We got him from Battersea. He is a lovely dog and very gentle but turns into a hidious ravaging beast if he sees another dog Shock

He tried to beat up a massive pitbull/X a year ago and I was mortified. Poor dog was ok but it was awful. I was putting some rubbish out when the dog went past, Hero saw him with his one eye and shot out like a rocket!

I also have Atticus who is a chihauhau x Pom. He is two and his birthday is one day before DC4 so they share their party. I got him after I had my 'last' baby. I then went on to have another baby - ooops.
He is a lovely lovely dog. He is all fluffy and sweet. He sits in the buggy with the DCs and under the buggy. He comes on the school run and hops in his carrier under the buggy whilst I take the DCs in.
He rolls around with the kids and never snaps. He has just stopped chewing but you cant leave a dirty nappy around for a second (bluegggh) or it will go missing. He is as macho as you like indoors but turns into a wimpy wimp head when we go out. He is totally unagressive with other dogs which is a huge relief.
The speed in which he puts on weight is terrifying though. I have to be very very careful with his feeding.

I loves him.

mellowbird · 17/06/2011 18:06

I have a Newfoundland. She's like velcro and never leaves my side. Loves everybody and is an absolute dream to live with (aside from all the hair).

Then there's my crossbreed dog. He's a bastard. The less said about him, the better.

BooyHoo · 17/06/2011 18:10

i have an 11.5 month old golden retriever called wonderbear marmaduke (ds picked the name Grin)

he is a really pale colour, and still very soft although some of his fur has gone more bristly. he is teh laziest puppy i know. he goes on all his walks and then just follows me around the house in between times, lying down at my feet as soon as i stop walking! he is so gentle with the dcs, he automatically lies down and rolls on his back for them to pet and tickle him.

he is still quite nervous out on walks if otehr people approach us Sad so i am working on that as i hate to think of him being scared.

i love him to pieces and hope he is with me for a long long time.

Al0uiseG · 17/06/2011 18:15

Dh and I often comment that having dogs is what having children "should" be like.

They sleep well, poo regularly, eat everything you put in front of them and best of all can be left at home for a couple of hours from day one.

Lizcat · 17/06/2011 18:28

Mobile mop the 1 year old fabulously talented cockerpoo. He shares his home with beautiful moggy girl my first born child and arrogant posh boy DH's poor little boy.

Eric (8) and Ellie (5) - two beautiful miniature long haired dachshunds whose favourite thing in the world (apart from eating steak) is curling up on me and sleeping.

They are both 'shaded red', which is a mix of ref fur and black fur so they look dark reddy brown, but Eric also has lots of very soft cream fluffy fur on his tummy so he looks a lot paler than Ellie.

Ellie is a complete tart and will literally dash into the street and throw herself on her back in front of people so they will stroke her tummy. Eric is a bit more wary of strangers but has the waggiest tail in the world.

We also have two ten year old cats, Minnie and Juno, and when Ellie was a puppy she bonded with Minnie and thinks she is part cat. They still groom each other. It's very cute watching Ellie sitting there while Minnie purrs and tries to groom her :)

They're FAB dogs to have - soft and cuddly and adoring.

mellowbird · 17/06/2011 18:41

oh they sound gorgeous Smile

Imagine your worst nightmare of a dog. One that you really can't imagine having to live with.

Think of all the traits you like and admire in a dog. And then imagine the polar opposite.

Hold onto that image....

....'cos that dog would still be a dream compared to bastard dog.

Charlie, our gorgeous chocolate lab. The only lab I have ever met that WILL NOT swim. He will have a little paddle but totally freaks if the water reaches the top of his legs. He is a total softy. All he wants in life is to be everyone's friend, man and dog alike. He is a huge dog but curls up on your knee like he is some kind of lap dog. He is so affectionate and the children adore him, as do I.

His downside - socks! He is obsessed with the bloody things. If anybody drops a sock then there is a frenzied race to pick it up before the dog eats it. It is like some kind of weird fetish.

roundandroundincircles · 17/06/2011 19:03

Enzo, a 3yr old springer spaniel cross rhodesian ridgeback!!! Got him from a rescue centre two years ago.
He's as daft as a brush and a big softie, he loves nothing more than snuggling up to me or dh as close as he can possibly get.
Lots of energy and loves swimming although last year he managed to skewer his paw on a piece of sharp wood and ended up having to be operated on.
He's currently staying with my parents in Wales while I get into a routine with dd. Miss him loads :( He's having a great time though!! :)

notapizzaeater · 17/06/2011 19:25

Dexter Midnight Runner - Or Dexter Doo Doo to all the kids round here. 3 year old (birthday tomorrow) huge bearded collie. Stupidest dog in the world. Loves everything to bits, petrified of his own shadow but adores all dogs and his ambition in life is to walk with every dog going past the window. Sits on the window sill in the room watching. Likie the other dog above - come half eleven at night he is terrible - he wants to go to bed and nudges/paces you. Part of the herding thing is he hates any one of us being out (fine if we are out collectively but singulary he looks for the missing one to return) Fussiest dog in the world, will not eat unless he is hungry - even his fav stuff. He is not a morning dog at all and heaven forbid you want him to move before 8am - he just will not budge ....

boohoohoo · 17/06/2011 20:14

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 17/06/2011 21:05

After losing our beloved Saint Weimeraner earlier this year, I now have Digby the world's dumbest Labrador.

He doesn't seem to know he is a lab. Can't train with food as he is not interested Shock

I was under the impression that Labs were people pleasers who would do anything for a sausage.

I got a sulky baby crocodile who has got the Hmm face down to a tee.

I Luffs him though Grin

mellowbird · 17/06/2011 22:31
