He's been with them for NINE YEARS and they're not even giving him a chance with the new baby? Words fail me.

You cannot just discard animals after nine years.

Before I had DS2, I suffered 5 miscarriages and lost DS1 when he was less than 24 hours old. With virtually no family support, my collies were my lifeline. They are the reason why I am still here. When I had DS2, my collies were aged 6 & 4. I was shocked by the number of "well meaning" people who advised us to have our dogs pts "now that we had our baby". Sad

I got my two lovely dogs when I became pregnant! Clearly that makes me entirely insane Grin

I remember happy hours watching telly lying on the floor with a labrador puppy spooned each side of me and raising an eyebrow when they got kicked.

Waiting for them to clear quarantine here in Oz is heartbreaking. Sad

And yes, it has cost an effing fortune. And no I don't regret a penny of the seven thousand five hundred pounds it has cost to get them here.

so ner.

We rehomed our dog. It was a bloody horrible decision to make and 3 years on we still talk about her all the time and miss her terribly.

The ONLY reason we did it was a combination of our circumstances changing dramatically, and an offer of a place so, so much better for her. She has the best life now with a woman who loves and adores her. If that perfect offer hadn't come up we would have kept her and muddled on somehow, god knows how.

The way I see it was by getting a dog I made a commitment to her well-being for the rest of her life. By saying goodbye to her and letting her go to her new home I have honoured that commitment. It was the best decision for her, not for me!

We are still in touch. Dd still cries because she misses her.

Pity the person wanting to get rid of that poor dog didn't read this on another part of the Jack Russell website www.jack-russell-terrier.co.uk/forum/read.php?6,211610

Oh, that made me cry. So, so sad, and it's happening all the time. Sad

I don't know, there should be a law against taking on a dog and then just changing your mind. I don't know how it could be enforced, though. Sad

Vallhala · 17/04/2011 00:28

I've read that before. As soon as I saw the first sentence on your link I stopped reading... it hurts too much and I see and hear of it too often, it's all far too real for me.

Am sitting here shaking and close to tears just at the memory of those words. :(

GapsAGoodUn · 17/04/2011 04:14
