Morning and welcome.

To anyone new this is the Happy Place Café, all food and drink served here is calorie free. Everyone is welcome.

There are some people who have been here for literally years and others are newer.

The staff are me, obviously, Florence a French pastry chef who is married to Fernando the cocktail waiter (no one knows where Fernando is from so we suspect the marriage was about visas).

In a previous incarnation one of the regulars was Tilly (RIP) who brought a sparkling light in to the café along with a lemur named Leo.

Leo runs a dog wash (Tilly had a golden retriever and her family agreed to the dog wash as a tribute) but as there are rarely and dogs around he will wash anything, his other interests are goats and eggs. He spends every morning cooking eggs.

Outside the café is seating and a water feature, the water feature becomes a swimming pool in summer and an ice rink in winter. There is also a petting zoo.

Other residents are the kittenbees who are kittens the size of a bee with wings, they are very gentle but like to nibble anything sweet. Please do not give them alcohol.

Outside is where their larger cousins the bumblecats live, they are about the size of a fist and a lot more feisty than the kittenbees.

There is normally a daily special for breakfast and sometimes there is a pack up / bait / packed lunch.

Now to breakfast.

I thought a little trip to Germany would fit this morning so Florence is making bread rolls, soft and crusty, Leo is baking / frying / boiling eggs and Fernando is serving Apfelkorn.

I put out a selection of cooked meats, cheeses, jam, nutella, marmalade and if you want that abomination that people wither love or hate, it is in a locked box in the garden, far from the café, that is where it is to be consumed.

Actually I watched a vid from 'Atomic Shrimp' the other day that featured the brown paste added to warm milk.

I'm her every day it feels. I'd love a hot chocolate but have given it up for lent . It might need to be a night time tea with honey and a light snack. Could I have a sleepy lab puppy to cuddle too pls? .

sashh · 28/03/2025 07:21

Morning.

A lab puppy, er not sure if there is one around here, and if there was Leo would be washing it.

The hot chocolate here is calorie free so I'm not sure if it counts as something you can give up.

Sorry for the late start, I was awake in the night.

So nice and simple this morning, beans on toast with a bit of cheese and or bacon. Florence is making Danish pastries, Fernando has some fruit beers and Leo is making scrambled eggs to go on the side.

Aw the thought of a lab puppy being washed is plenty good enough
Here I am again. Becoming quite the nocturnal being.

sashh · 29/03/2025 06:43

Morning.

@tattoonewbie I keep missing you. I'm having a slow start today so I'll leave F and F to cook and take Leo for a walk.

Just put any orders in to F and F.

@burntoutnurse @SparkleShineRainbow I hope you are both enjoying the cafe.

@tattoonewbie , how about cuddles from a baby goat ? Leo could bring you one thats just been washed so it's all floofy.

@sashh , I hope your walk with Leo is nice.

I will make some bacon or sausage butties for anyone that wants them . Tomato and HP sauce is there -> help yourself

sashh · 30/03/2025 03:02

Morning.

I'm feeling the need for a breakfast from the Indian Ocean so lets head to Réunion.

Risofé (fried rice with veg), Samosas and Bouchons, and because of the French influence Florence is making croissants.

Fernando is serving rum.

Leo is, of course making eggs, even though they are not traditional with this breakfast.

@ScottBakula thanks for keeping things going yesterday.

Well I am ⅔ ish through a surprisingly quiet shift, which I appreciate but by god I am hungry, I ate my lunch ( veg curry ) and fruit salad about a hr ago I have a packet of mini Cheddars , cube of cheese and 2 pickles left for later , I don't finish work until 5am so I won't starve but I really want toast with jam on .

sashh · 30/03/2025 03:31

@ScottBakula well the best I can do is a virtual piece of toast with jam.

Morning all

Could I have a croissants please? I’ve missed Florence’s.

Any chance of a rum punch? Straight rum is a bit much at this time of day.

sashh · 30/03/2025 07:07

One rum punch and a croissant or two on their way.

Hellloo...I've stumbled upon your cafe ..I'm probably going to be a regular for a while as worries are waking me early.
I'd love some french Polynesian coffee...might as well chuck in the rum too.
Do the clocks go forward in the cafe ?

sashh · 30/03/2025 07:25

@Theredjellybean Time in the café is the same as the UK.

Coffee is not a problem, I'll get Fernando to add a dash of rum.

SorrowsPrayers · 30/03/2025 19:28

Can I put an order in for tomorrow morning, despite being absent for a while.
I don't know what your planning, so surprise me...with a strong black coffee please.

sashh · 31/03/2025 03:22

Morning.

OK who was it? Who gave Leo the egg recipe book?

Well I know what we are all having for breakfast, eggs. Boiled, scrambled, poached, coddled, on plat, Spanish eggs, ouves rancheros, quiche ...

If you don't like eggs, sorry.

Florence is making various breads to mop up the eggs, sour dough, soft rolls and soda, Fernando is running a champagne bar.

@SorrowsPrayers grab a seat I'll bring a pot over to share with you.

MyOtherProfile · 31/03/2025 04:10

I'm here again. I woke up with my mind racing over my work to do list.

Are you thinking of that old egg advert where a woman says How do you like your eggs, fried or boiled? And the man drifts off into a dream about all the different ways he could have them, ending with ... Or quiche Lorraine!

Definitely poached for me please.

sashh · 31/03/2025 05:11

@MyOtherProfile On its way, do you want toast as well?

OP posts:
SorrowsPrayers · 31/03/2025 05:57

Thanks for the coffee! Off to work now. Deep joy!

sashh · 31/03/2025 06:36

Have a good day @SorrowsPrayers

Theredjellybean · 31/03/2025 07:37

Thank you for the lovely rum based coffee drink.
I didn't need the cafe this morning as by a miracle ( or over whelming exhaustion) I slept until 7 am...are there any eggs left now?

Theredjellybean · 31/03/2025 07:38

As a new comer...can I ask does the cafe have it's own chickens ? To provide the eggs ?

sashh · 31/03/2025 08:23

@Theredjellybean The café does not currently have chickens, mainly because Leo would insist on washing them, it's bad enough when he washes a goat or two. I swear he is part racoon.

sashh · 01/04/2025 07:19

Morning.

Sorry for the late start. Leo has been busy making Japanese rolled omelettes over night so I suppose I should make pack ups of bentos if anyone wants one.

Well we might as well stick to the Asian theme for breakfast. So lets head for Korea for rice and banchan.

Banchan today is Korean beef patties, pot sticker salad and roasted seaweed.

If you don't fancy that Florence is making Danish pastries and Fernando has rice wine.

I've sent Leo to clean the petting zoo.

OP posts:
Theredjellybean · 01/04/2025 09:16

Can I have a tray of danish pastries please.
I'm currently 24/7 supervising my dsd who is relapsed in her eating disorder...we are going through a lot of food.
Re: Leo...does he have OCD about washing...my dogs are pretty filthy and there's plenty of laundry at jellybean cottage if he's available to hire ?

sashh · 01/04/2025 09:22

@Theredjellybean Oh that sounds tough, of course you can have a tray of pastries. I'll send Leo over to wash your dogs.

OP posts:
sashh · 02/04/2025 03:01

Morning.

Well in the hopes of it being a nice day again I'm setting up the BBQ, but as it is still chilly the patio heaters are on.

So BBQ sausages of various types, both British and German. Florence is making soft bread rolls to go with the sausages, Fernando has a selection of Belgian fruit beers.

Leo wants to BBQ eggs but I don't think it is a good idea so I'm sending him out as a roving dog washer.
