The Happy Place Café and Tilly's dog wash is still open.

Morning and welcome.

To anyone new this is the Happy Place Café, all food and drink served here is calorie free. Everyone is welcome.

There are some people who have been here for literally years and others are newer.

The staff are me, obviously, Florence a French pastry chef who is married to Fernando the cocktail waiter (no one knows where Fernando is from so we suspect the marriage was about visas).

In a previous incarnation one of the regulars was Tilly (RIP) who brought a sparkling light in to the café along with a lemur named Leo.

Leo runs a dog wash (Tilly had a golden retriever and her family agreed to the dog wash as a tribute) but as there are rarely and dogs around he will wash anything, his other interests are goats and eggs. He spends every morning cooking eggs.

Outside the café is seating and a water feature, the water feature becomes a swimming pool in summer and an ice rink in winter. There is also a petting zoo.

Other residents are the kittenbees who are kittens the size of a bee with wings, they are very gentle but like to nibble anything sweet. Please do not give them alcohol.

Outside is where their larger cousins the bumblecats live, they are about the size of a fist and a lot more feisty than the kittenbees.

There is normally a daily special for breakfast and sometimes there is a pack up / bait / packed lunch.

Now to breakfast.

I thought a little trip to Germany would fit this morning so Florence is making bread rolls, soft and crusty, Leo is baking / frying / boiling eggs and Fernando is serving Apfelkorn.

I put out a selection of cooked meats, cheeses, jam, nutella, marmalade and if you want that abomination that people wither love or hate, it is in a locked box in the garden, far from the café, that is where it is to be consumed.

Actually I watched a vid from 'Atomic Shrimp' the other day that featured the brown paste added to warm milk.

Leo did a marvellous job with the jellybean puppies...they smell delightful of coconut conditioner...but weirdly all the eggs have vanished from the kitchen...a small price to oay

sashh · 03/04/2025 02:47

Morning.

Well it is quiet in here so I'll just make pack up breakfast/brunch/lunch and you can help yourselves. I'll send F and F to take Leo for a long walk.

So the pack up, mini quiches, a Lorraine and a cheese and onion. Crusty bread with ham. A croissant with jam and of course fruit juice.

There are flasks of hot chocolate, coffee and tea.

@Theredjellybean watch out F and F might be heading your way with Leo, expect clean dogs, children and your car.

But let F and F take over your kitchen for some delightful sweet and alcoholic pstries.

Theredjellybean · 04/04/2025 07:43

Since stumbling into the cafe some nights ago, I am now sleeping all night.
Last night 10 hrs ....
Is there something in the pastries????

sashh · 04/04/2025 08:01

Morning.

Sorry for the late start, I'm not too good IRL today so just give orders to F and F while I snooze in the corner.

Morning.

Well for a change we are heading to Botswana today so bogobe (maize porridge) with mangwinya with boerwors on the side.

Leo is, of course, adding fried eggs on the side. I think I'll add some watermelon as the sausage can be quite spicy.

Florence is making lemon cakes and Fernando has a selection of local wines.

Morning. Another late start, sorry.

I'm just going to do bacon butties so any combination of bacon, sausage, egg with hash browns on the side.

Florence is making brownies and Fernando has bucks fizzz.

Leo has gone off to wash the goats.

OP posts:
ScottBakula · 06/04/2025 11:45

Are there any bacon and egg butties left @sashh ?
I love brownies esp if they are slightly soft in the middle.
I got into the habit of a weekly treat of a brownie and double espresso at a Neros I passed on the way home from work .
So can I have a brownie and double espresso after my bacon and egg buttie please.

sashh · 07/04/2025 07:49

@ScottBakula On its way.

But for today as it is a very late start I'm just doing a pack up, a retro 1970s pack up of a ploughman's lunch, with a slice of quiche on the side, because Leo.

Florence is making Bakewell pudding and Fernando hs a selection of Belgian fruit beers.

OP posts:
ScottBakula · 07/04/2025 09:07

Ooh a ploughman's is something I definitely like.
Can I have a little pot of Branston with mine please.

sashh · 07/04/2025 10:02

All packed up and ready for you to take with you, or sit and eat here is you want.

OP posts:
ScottBakula · 07/04/2025 12:56

Thankyou @sashh , I will go and sit by the water feature.
Have we got any wind breaks? , the sun's lovely but the wind is quite cool

sashh · 08/04/2025 02:51

Morning.

Breakfast this morning is from <drum roll> Wolverhampton, but not what you think. This is based on a breakfast take away near me.

Aloo paratha with salted yoghurt, chole, paneer paratha, purris and of course lassi.

Leo is not happy that eggs do not feature so Florence is teaching him to pickle them, Fernando has some Indian beers.

OP posts:
ImDoneOnceAndForAll · 09/04/2025 01:05

Oooh, sad i missed the last few mornings
Especially the Bakewell pudding. Yum

sashh · 09/04/2025 04:28

Morning

@ImDoneOnceAndForAll Sorry you missed it.

For breakfast I think we shall head to Morocco.

Florence is making a range of breads, flat breads and fried pasty.

Leo is delighted to fry eggs but isn't too sure about serving them with olive oil.

I'll put out a selection of jben cheese, olives, bessara and honey.

Fernando is making mint tea but the usual tea and coffee are available.

OP posts:
tattoonewbie · 09/04/2025 07:22

I was awake just before this post but dropped off. Would love to e everything g for breakfast and a mint tea. Eggs with olive oil will be just dandy

sashh · 09/04/2025 10:38

@tattoonewbie I'll bring it all over.

OP posts:
sashh · 10/04/2025 09:03

Morning.

Sorry for the extra late start, I'm going to take a seat outside and let F and F and L make whatever they want. I expect to be buried under a mound of eggs fairly soon.

OP posts:
ScottBakula · 10/04/2025 21:28

Evening all ,
@sashh can you ask Leo to hard boil me a couple of duck eggs please , I am going to be trekking between sites tomorrow so I want a snack that can be eaten on the hoof and won't take up much space or weight.
