Morning and welcome.

To anyone new this is the Happy Place Café, all food and drink served here is calorie free. Everyone is welcome.

There are some people who have been here for literally years and others are newer.

The staff are me, obviously, Florence a French pastry chef who is married to Fernando the cocktail waiter (no one knows where Fernando is from so we suspect the marriage was about visas).

In a previous incarnation one of the regulars was Tilly (RIP) who brought a sparkling light in to the café along with a lemur named Leo.

Leo runs a dog wash (Tilly had a golden retriever and her family agreed to the dog wash as a tribute) but as there are rarely and dogs around he will wash anything, his other interests are goats and eggs. He spends every morning cooking eggs.

Outside the café is seating and a water feature, the water feature becomes a swimming pool in summer and an ice rink in winter. There is also a petting zoo.

Other residents are the kittenbees who are kittens the size of a bee with wings, they are very gentle but like to nibble anything sweet. Please do not give them alcohol.

Outside is where their larger cousins the bumblecats live, they are about the size of a fist and a lot more feisty than the kittenbees.

There is normally a daily special for breakfast and sometimes there is a pack up / bait / packed lunch.

Now to breakfast.

I thought a little trip to Germany would fit this morning so Florence is making bread rolls, soft and crusty, Leo is baking / frying / boiling eggs and Fernando is serving Apfelkorn.

I put out a selection of cooked meats, cheeses, jam, nutella, marmalade and if you want that abomination that people wither love or hate, it is in a locked box in the garden, far from the café, that is where it is to be consumed.

Actually I watched a vid from 'Atomic Shrimp' the other day that featured the brown paste added to warm milk.

Ahhhhh .... Did you see any aurora out there?
I caught it only slightly about an hour ago

Love Spaniels. How long have you had your dog?

MinnieMountain · 13/11/2025 06:01

I’m not convinced that Tabasco is that intelligent @ScottBakula . Or maybe it’s part of a general cat plan to fool us.

sashh · 13/11/2025 06:53

Morning.

So it was quite busy here while I was away. Glad you helped yourself.

@whiffydog Leo is always available to wash dogs, but he then likes to take them to visit the goats so make sure you get the dog back.

I'm still not feeling well so I'm going to take a seat by the fire and drink hot chocolate.

Please give any orders to F and F and L (but not while he is washing dogs).

Morning.
Right for a change let's head to Denmark.

Florence is making a range of Danish pastries, I'm making øllebrød, left over rye bread mixed with dark beer to make a porridge, I'll put out some breads, cheese and jam out so help yourselves.

Leo is obviously boiling eggs.

OP posts:
ImDoneOnceAndForAll · 14/11/2025 01:50

Oooh would love a Danish pastry please

Boiled egg on slightly burnt toast sounds fantastic

Will take it by the open fire please.
Hope the Kitten bees are around tonight

sashh · 14/11/2025 01:57

With Danish pastries the kittenbees are literally buzzing.

ImDoneOnceAndForAll · 14/11/2025 02:28

😍

MinnieMountain · 14/11/2025 06:32

I’m only here to see the kitten bees buzz.

Not really. May I have a pastry and a large coffee please?

Stinky day isn’t it? I’ll get the fire going.

ScottBakula · 14/11/2025 20:16

Evening all , the weather is foul isn't it.
I hope everyone is OK.

@whiffydog , welcome to the café, Leo is great with all dogs but like @sashh said he does tend to try to foster them for a little while.

Recently I have had a thing for Eccles cakes so I have brought a big box of them in and will leave them near the fire to gently warm.

sashh · 15/11/2025 06:50

One coffee and a pastry on its way.

IRL the cat is not happy with me, she wanted to go out, so I opened the door, but it was wet and windy so she decided to go out the window instead. Apparently the rain and wind is my fault.

Morning.

Well the post above was supposed to be posted yesterday, I've no idea what is going on with my PC.

Breakfast, today I think Portugal will provide.

Florence and Leo are making pastel de nata and bola de Berlim. I'm making tosta mista and I'll lay out a selection of breads, cheese, jams and preserves.

Fernando is serving Madeira.

MinnieMountain · 15/11/2025 07:15

Morning all.

I might just settle in for the day since there’s pastel de nata.

ImDoneOnceAndForAll · 16/11/2025 01:34

Iv never tried a pastel de nata

ImDoneOnceAndForAll · 16/11/2025 19:17

How is everyone?
It suppose to snow here next week so will love some warming breakfasts this coming week
Im happy to help out 🥰

ImDoneOnceAndForAll · 17/11/2025 05:02

Can i put the kettle on please....
The fire is already roaring in the corner

Hope everyone has a peaceful day

sashh · 17/11/2025 05:34

Morning.

Oh look a boiling kettle thank you @ImDoneOnceAndForAll

Snow? Well in that case I think I will introduce an addition for the colder months of soup. I'll just set it up in a soup kettle and leave you to it(eat now, take to work, have an evening snack). So today is tomato soup which I'm told in the USA is served on snow days with cheese toasties.

OP posts:
ImDoneOnceAndForAll · 17/11/2025 05:40

Oooh could eat a cheese toastie right about now 😋

sashh · 17/11/2025 05:43

Oops posted before breakfast.

OK Breakfast to day I think porridge of various types so oats, different types of congee, arroz caldo.

Leo is frying eggs to go on the side. Florence is making toasties, place your order and Fernando has hot chocolate with or without a nip of alcohol.

OP posts:
sashh · 17/11/2025 05:49

One cheese toastie on its way.

OP posts:
MinnieMountain · 18/11/2025 05:01

Morning all

I’ll get the coffee on.

sashh · 18/11/2025 07:41

Morning.

I see coffee is on, nice one @MinnieMountain

OK so today I think the soup will be mulligatawny, that should keep anyone warm.

I think we need a bit of spice this morning so Leo is making shakshuka, Florence is making rosemary bread rolls and I'm making frittata.

Fernando has gin with a variety of mixers.

OP posts:
MinnieMountain · 18/11/2025 07:56

Yum.

tattoonewbie · 18/11/2025 20:07

Any shakshula left ? I was up at 4.15 but tried to lay I. The dark Didn’t really work !

sashh · 19/11/2025 05:54

Morning.

@tattoonewbie try the fridge, leftovers are in there.

So today the soup is broccoli and stilton. Flasks available to make a pack up.

Let's head for Singapore where coffee comes in many varieties.

Kopi, kopi-o, kopi-C, kopi peng, kopi kosong there are more but I think we have enough variety.

Leo is pleased because his eggs can go on toast or on a plate of nasi lemak.

Florence is making Tu Huey and munchi pancakes.

Fernando, of course, is making Singapore sling.

OP posts:
sashh · 20/11/2025 04:32

Morning.

\well today' soup will be Chinese style chicken and sweetcorn (Leo likes to do the eggy bit).

Lets have a little trip to Ireland. I know Irish breakfast can be similar to English but Florence is making soda bread to go on the side of the fry up.

Fry up of bacon, sausage, black and white puddings, eggs by Leo.

Whiskey porridge.

Salmon and eggs on toast.

Fernando is, of course, serving Guinness.
